FRANKLIN HOME FOR THE AGED BEGAN AS A PLACE FOR ELDERS IN THE COMMUNITY WHO ORIGINALLY WORKED IN THE MILLS TO LIVE OUT THEIR RETIREMENT YEARS. THREE FOUNDING FAMILIES POOLED RESOURCES AND A PORTION OF THEIR ACCUMULATED WEALTH TO ESTABLISH THE HOME INCORPORATING AS AN ASSOCIATION IN 1938.WE EARNED OUR OFFICIAL NONPROFIT STATUS IN LATER YEARS BUT NOT BEFORE THE ORIGINAL MANSION WAS OPENED IN 1944. SINCE SO MANY LOCALS REFERRED TO THE HOME AS THE 'PEABODY HOME' DUE TO THE ORIGINAL PEABODY HOMESTEAD ON WHICH THE CURRENT STRUCTURE WAS BUILT, THAT THE INFORMAL NAME BECAME OUR ACTUAL TITLE. PEABODY HAS BEEN A FIXTURE IN THE THREE RIVERS CITY OF FRANKLIN FOR OVER 80 YEARS PROVIDING QUALITY CARE FOR SENIORS GENERATION AFTER GENERATION.(SEE CONTINUED...)
