STEWARDSHIP: THE TAHOE FUND EXECUTES INITIATIVES AND PROVIDES GRANTS TO CRITICAL ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN LAKE TAHOE THAT ENCOURAGE GREATER STEWARDSHIP OF THE TAHOE BASIN. TAHOE FUND AWARDED A NUMBER OF GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE EXPANDING ACCESS AND INCLUSION IN TAHOE, INCLUDING YEA CAMPS WITH GATEWAY MOUNTAIN CENTER, NEW ACCESSIBILITY PROGRAMS WITH THE TAHOE RIM TRAIL, A YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM WITH ADVENTURE RISK CHALLENGE, AND SOS OUTREACH. THE TAHOE FUND CONTINUED TO FUND THE REGIONAL STEWARDSHIP COLLABORATION CALLED TAKE CARE TAHOE WITH NEW MESSAGES AND BILLBOARDS ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS INTO TAHOE AND WAS A MAJOR FUNDING PARTNER IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW DESTINATION STEWARDSHIP PLAN.
RECREATION: THE TAHOE FUND PROVIDES GRANTS TO CRITICAL ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN LAKE TAHOE THAT WILL CREATE SUSTAINABLE OUTDOOR RECREATION. THE TAHOE FUND PROVIDED FUNDING FOR A NUMBER OF SUSTAINABLE RECREATION PROJECTS AROUND THE BASIN, INCLUDING THE EXTENSION OF THE EAST SHORE TRAIL, A NEW VISITOR CENTER AND AMPITHEATER AT SPOONER LAKE STATE PARK, THE MEEKS RIDGE TRAIL, AND THE COMPLETION OF WORK ON THE INCLINE FLUME TRAIL INCLUDING A NEW BRIDGE.
FOREST HEALTH: THE TAHOE FUND PROVIDES GRANTS TO INCREASE THE PACE AND SCALE OF FOREST RESTORATION IN THE TAHOE BASIN TO PREVENT CATASTROPHIC WILDFIRE. THE TAHOE FUND GRANTED MONEY TO LAKE TAHOE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS OF THEIR FORESTRY PROGRAM TO EXPAND THE WORKFORCE, RESEARCH ON VULNERABLE POPULATIONS WITHIN THE WILDFIRE CONTEXT, AND HOSTED A WORKSHOP FOR MORE THAN 75 FIRE PROFESSIONALS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE SOCIAL SCIENCE BEHIND COMMUNITY ACCEPTANCE OF PRESCRIBED FIRES.
