NATIONAL MEDICAL FELLOWSHIPS INC.S ("NMF") MISSION IS TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPORT FOR UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY STUDENTS IN MEDICINE AND IN THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS. NMFS GOAL IS TO IDENTIFY AND NURTURE TOMORROWS DIVERSE HEALTHCARE LEADERS WHO WILL HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CULTURAL COMPETENCY AND COMMITMENT TO ACHIEVE HEALTH EQUITY. NMFS VISION IS TO EMPOWER AND SUPPORT ASPIRING PHYSICIANS AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS UNDERREPRESENTED IN MEDICINE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HEALTH OF OUR NATION.

SERVICE LEARING PROGRAMS - THE NMF SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS PROVIDE SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO WORK HANDS-ON TO ENHANCE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY IN UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES IN LOCAL AND NATIONAL SETTINGS. THESE PROGRAMS MATCH STUDENTS WITH MENTORS, OFTEN EMINENT NMF ALUMNI, AND FOCUS ON AREAS OF CRITICAL CLINICAL/PUBLIC HEALTH NEED.
POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMS:THROUGH ITS SCHOLARSHIP AND SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS, NMF HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN INCREASING THE NUMBER OF UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY PHYSICIANS, PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST AND RESEARCHERS IN THE US. MOST RECENTLY, NMF HAS EXPANDED ITS PROGRAMMING TO PROVIDE TRAINING AND SUPPORT FOR MINORITY PHYSICIANS TO BECOME MORE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN CLINICAL TRIALS. NMFS NEW DIVERSITY IN RESEARCH PROGRAMS PORTFOLIO IS COMPRISED OF TWO MAJOR INITIATIVES, WHICH SHARE THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF INCREASING UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY PATIENT ENGAGEMENT AND PARTICIPATION IN CLINICAL RESEARCH TO ENSURE THAT TREATMENT AND PREVENTATIVE REGIMENS ARE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED ACROSS ALL INTENDED TARGET POPULATIONS.
