HUMILITY HOMES AND SERVICES, INC. (HHSI) PROVIDES TRANSITIONAL AND SUPPORTING HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME, SINGLE HEADS OF HOUSEHOLDS ALONG WITH VARIOUS PROGRAMMING TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH BASIC NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY. HHSI'S PROGRAMMING INCLUDES AN EMERGENCY SHELTER, SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES (SSVF), AND MISSION-FOCUSED HOUSING.HUMILITY'S 70 BED EMERGENCY SHELTER ASSISTS PARTICIPANTS TO TRANSITION SUCCESSFULLY TO PERMANENT HOUSING, MAKING HOMELESSNESS A RARE, BRIEF AND ONE-TIME EXPERIENCE IN THE GREATER QUAD CITIES AREA. FOLLOWING AN EVIDENCE-BASED HOUSING FIRST MODEL, PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME TO RECEIVE SHELTER WITH NO PRECONDITIONS TO ENTRY, ALLOWING PARTICIPANTS TO FOCUS ON STABILIZING AFTER A HOUSING CRISIS AND MOVE TOWARDS PERMANENT HOUSING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.THE SSVF PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2011 TO RAPIDLY REHOUSE VETERANS FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS AND PREVENT HOMELESSNESS FOR THOSE AT IMMINENT RISK DUE TO A HOUSING CRISIS. ELIGIBLE VETERAN FAMILIES CAN RECEIVE CASE MANAGEMENT, ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING VA AND OTHER MAINSTREAM BENEFITS THAT PROMOTE HOUSING STABILITY AND COMMUNITY INTEGRATION.FINALLY, HHSI'S MISSION FOCUSED HOUSING PROGRAM ASSISTS HOUSEHOLDS WHO ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL AND STATE HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM SECTION 8 HOLDERS. PARTICIPANTS ARE OFFERED VERY AFFORDABLE RENTS AT PROPERTIES OWNED BY HHSI, ADDITIONAL SUPPORT IF NEEDED, AND ACCESS TO THE FRESH START CENTER TO OBTAIN THE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AND CLOTHES THEY NEED TO FURNISH THEIR NEW HOMES. THE GOAL IS THAT HOUSEHOLDS WILL EXPERIENCE HOUSING STABILITY AND PROGRESSIVELY STRENGTHEN THEIR FOUNDATION TO HELP THEM PURSUE THE EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES THEY DESIRE.
