4TH STREET BASEMENT BOUTIQUE OPENED IN 2002 TO PROVIDE AN OUTLET FOR ATTIRE DONATED TO DRESS FOR SUCCESS CINCINNATI (DFSC) THAT WAS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR OR WAS IN EXCESS OF WHAT WAS NEEDED TO STOCK DFSCS STYLEHER (THEN SUITING) PROGRAM. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING AN ADDITIONAL SOURCE OF AFFORDABLE CLOTHING TO DFSC CLIENTS AND THE PUBLIC, 4TH STREET BASEMENT BOUTIQUE WAS ABLE TO GENERATE ADDITIONAL REVENUE FOR DFSC PROGRAMS IN SUPPORT OF ITS MISSION TO EMPOWER WOMEN TO ACHIEVE ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE BY PROVING A NETWORK OF SUPPORT, PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE AND DEVELOPMENT TOOLS TO HELP WOMEN THRIVE IN WORK AND IN LIFE. IN AUGUST 2014, 4TH STREET BASEMENT BOUTIQUE BEGAN DOING BUSINESS AS PORTALUCA. PORTALUCA OFFERS NEW AND GENTLY USED WOMEN'S CLOTHING, SHOES AND ACCESSORIES AT AFFORDABLE PRICES. WEEKLY SPECIALS, DESIGNER SHOWCASES, WAREHOUSE SALES AND PERSONABLE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS MAKE PORTALUCA A WONDERFUL PLACE TO SHOP. PORTALUCA OPERATIONS WERE IMPACTED SIGNIFICANTLY BY THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS BEGINNING IN 2020, FOLLOWED BY A FORCED RELOCATION IN 2021. AS A RESULT, NO PROCEEDS WERE TRANSFERRED TO DFSC IN 2020. IN 2021, PORTALUCA RECOVERED SUFFICIENTLY TO REIMBURSE DFSC FOR ACCRUED EXPENSES, INCLUDING RENT. IN 2022, PORTALUCA HAS RESUMED TRANSFERS OF PROCEEDS OF SALES TO DFSC.
