CONSTRUCTION AND SALE OF HOUSES TO ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAM BASED ON THE CRITERIA OF NEED (INCLUDING FALLING BETWEEN 30-80% OF THE AMI), WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER, AND THE ABILITY TO PAY A MONTHLY MORTGAGE (INCLUDING ESCROW FOR TAXES AND INSURANCE). THROUGH MONETARY AND IN-KIND DONATIONS, VOLUNTEER LABOR, AND EACH HOMEOWNER'S "SWEAT EQUITY ", WE CONSTRUCT MARKET-QUALITY HOMES WHICH ARE THEN FINANCED THROUGH AFFORDABLE MORTGAGE LOANS(S). SINCE OUR FOUNDING IN 1989, WE HAVE COMPLETED THE CONSTRUCTION OF 19 NEW HOMES, 3 HOUSE REHABS/RENOS, THE DEMOLITION OF 2 BLIGHTED PROPERTIES. HANCOCK CO. HABITAT HAS AN OPEN DOOR POLICY AND IS PLEDGED TO THE LETTER AND SPIRIT OF U.S. POLICY FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY THROUGOUT THE NATION.
