OPPORTUNITIES AROOSTOOK: AP HOSTS A WEBSITE THAT OFFERS AREA BUSINESSES UNLIMITED FREE JOB LISTINGS. WE AVERAGE OVER 200 JOB LISTINGS AND OVER 100 BUSINESSES ACCESS THE FREE SERVICE. THIS HELPS TO EFFICIENTLY CONNECT OUR AROOSTOOK JOB SEEKERS TO GREAT LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
BROADBAND ACCESS: AP'S PRESIDENT ORIGINATED AND CO-CHAIRS THE COUNTY BROADBAND COMMITTEE. THIS COMMITTEE AND ITS SUBCOMMITTEES ARE COMPRISED OF 36 VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE LED BY AP TO FOCUS ON DEPLOYING BROADBAND SOLUTIONS IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF RURAL NORTHERN MAINE. 68 MUNICIPALITIES ARE BEING INFORMED AND LED TO ORGANIZE THEIR COMMUNITIES TOWARD RESOLVING THEIR LOCAL INTERNET ACCESS CHALLENGES WHERE MANY DON'T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO TAKE THIS ON.
FOREST INDUSTRY PROMOTION: AP'S PRESIDENT IS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE ASHLAND AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. AP'S INVOLVEMENT IS IN PROMOTING THE ASHLAND REGION STATEWIDE, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY TO HELP ATTRACT NEW INVESTMENT IN THE REGION'S ABUNDANT NATURAL FOREST RESOURCE AND DEVELOPING MODERN USES FOR THE FOREST AND BYPRODUCTS OF THE FOREST PRODUCTS INDUSTRY. AROOSTOOK'S LEGACY FOREST PRODUCTS AND MANUFACTURING BYPRODUCTS ARE ESSENTIAL TO DEVELOPING NEW RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTS AND REDUCING OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOSSIL FUELS AND AP ENSURES OUR 3 MILLION ACRES OF COMMERCIAL FORESTLAND IS PROMOTED BROADLY.
