ADVANCE THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF MAINE WOODLANDS; SUPPORT WOODLAND OWNERS THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND DEMONSTRATION OF SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT; AND PARTNER WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS.

WE PROMOTE SOUND FOREST MANAGEMENT AND LONG-TERM WOODLAND STEWARDSHIP. OUR FOCUS IS ON EDUCATING SMALL WOODLAND OWNERS AND THE PUBLIC REGARDING RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT. WE PRODUCE A MONTHLY PUBLICATION FOCUSED ON OWNING AND MANAGING WOODLAND IN MAINE. WE SPONSORED FREE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS LAST YEAR, EXHIBITED AT NUMEROUS FAIRS & SHOWS, AND REPRESENTED THE INTEREST OF WOODLAND OWNERS BEFORE THE LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. EACH YEAR WE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO HUNDREDS OF SMALL WOODLAND OWNERS WITH THE HELP THEY NEED TO BE LONG-TERM STEWARDS OF THE LAND. WE CONSERVE WORKING WOODLAND THROUGH OUR WORKING LAND TRUST PROGRAM BY ACCEPTING LAND IN FEE AS WELL AS THROUGH CONSERVATION EASEMENTS. ALL FEE LANDS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND MANY SERVE AS DEMONSTRATION FORESTS WHERE LONG-TERM FOREST MANAGEMENT IS PRACTICED.
