LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY - THE ACLU-ME'S LEGISLATIVE ADVOCATES ARE AN EFFECTIVE PRESENCE IN AUGUSTA, WORKING TO GUARD CIVIL LIBERTIES IN MAINE. DURING MAINE'S SHORT LEGISLATIVE SESSION, WE SUPPORTED BILLS TO EXPAND OUR GOOD SAMARITAN LAW, REMOVE ARBITRARY CAPS ON SYRINGE SERVICE PROVIDERS, RESTORE A CRIMINAL RECORD SEALING PROVISION, END SOLITARY CONFINEMENT, SUPPORT TRIBAL SOVEREIGNTY, MAKE PUBLIC ENTITIES SUBJECT TO THE STATE ANTI- DISCRIMINATION LAW, CURB POLICE POWER TO MAKE PRETEXTUAL STOPS, AND TO LIMIT HOW PRIVATE TECH COMPANIES COLLECT AND USE OUR BIOMETRIC INFORMATION.
