THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF VAN ZANDT COUNTY IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING QUALITY SERVICES AND SUPPORT TO THOSE CHILDREN IMPACTED BY ABUSE WHILE ALSO BUILDING A FUTURE WHERE NO CHILD IN VAN ZANDT COUNTY EXPERIENCES ABUSE.

The goal of this organization is to provide supportive services for crime victims which may include crisis counseling, medical services, escort services, transportation, child care, financial assistance, protective services, information about the mechanics of court proceedings, assistance with forms to file for reimbursement of crime-related expenses or losses, and/or advice and guidance concerning court appearances.

THE ORGANIZATION WAS ORGANIZED TO AID THE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BY PROVIDING OUTREACH, EDUCATION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, AND REFERRALS TO LEGAL, MEDICAL, FINANCIAL, HOUSING AND GOVERNMENTAL SERVICES AND RESOURCES. THE ORGANIZATION USES THE POWER OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TO ENRICH AND CHANGE THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

MISSION:

FOR 48 YEARS, VSC HAS ACHIEVED AND MAINTAINED A STRONG POSITION IN THE COMMUNITY AS A PROVIDER OF FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO THOUSANDS OF VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND OTHER CRIMES. VSC SERVICES INCLUDE 24-HOUR CRISIS INTERVENTION VIA TWO HOTLINES, COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, ADVOCACY, A CHILD ABUSE TREATMENT AND FAMILY THERAPY PROGRAM, IN-PERSON HOSPITAL/POLICE/COURT ACCOMPANIMENTS, RISK REDUCTION/SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND A COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE TEAM. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, VSC PROVIDED SERVICES TO 2,254 VICTIMS OF CRIME FOR 2,274 TOTAL VICTIMIZATIONS - 978 VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE, THE MAJORITY OF WHOM WERE WOMEN AND GIRLS; 1,296 VICTIMS OF OTHER CRIMES (I.E. BURGLARY, IDENTITY THEFT, ETC.). IN ADDITION, VSC CONDUCTED 200 RISK REDUCTION AND SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO 8,331 MONTGOMERY COUNTY STUDENTS AND RESIDENTS. VSC ALSO ASSISTED CRIME VICTIMS IN RECEIVING 73,870 THROUGH THE PA VICTIMS COMPENSATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE LAW CENTER (SVLC) IS A NONPROFIT LAW FIRM THAT PROTECTS THE PRIVACY, SAFETY, AND CIVIL RIGHTS OF SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN WASHINGTON THROUGH HOLISTIC AND TRAUMA-INFORMED PRACTICES BASED IN RACIAL AND GENDER EQUITY PRINCIPLES.

TO REDUCE THE EFFECTS OF FAMILY VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT AND TO ASSIST VICTIMS OF THESE CRIMES THROUGH PROGRAMS OF SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.
