FOUNDED IN 1883, THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (HSSC) IS THE OLDEST HISTORICAL SOCIETY IN CALIFORNIA. IT'S MISSION IS TO INTERPRET AND PROMOTE THE DIVERSE HISTORY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND THE WEST THROUGH EDUCATION AND PUBLICATIONS. HSSC REACHES OUT TO A DIVERSE CULTURAL COMMUNITY THROUGH CONFERENCES, LECTURES AND TOURS. THE SOCIETY ALSO FEATURES PUBLICATIONS IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA QUARTERLY JOURNAL AND A NEWSLETTER.
