SCPR CONTINUES TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THE ETHNIC DIVERSITY AND LANGUAGE SKILLS OF OUR STAFF. OUR REPORTERS WORK DAILY IN THE ETHNIC COMMUNITIES OF GREATER LOS ANGELES. OUR TALK SHOWS BROADCAST THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, BROADCASTING COMMUNITY VOICES TO THE ENTIRE REGION. SCPR IMPLEMENTED A PLAN DESIGNED TO FUNDAMENTALLY IMPROVE THE LEVEL OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION. SCPR CONTINUED TO BE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S PREMIER PUBLIC RADIO NEWS OPERATION, FEATURING THE MOST NPR NEWS IN THE REGION AND WITH A LOCAL NEWSROOM THAT WON MULTIPLE AWARDS THIS YEAR, INCLUDING AN LA PRESS CLUB AWARD FOR "BROADCAST: MINORITY/IMMIGRATION REPORTING, RADIO AND "ALL MEDIA PLATFORMS: CONSUMER NEWS OR FEATURE." SERVING MORE THAN 618,000 LISTENERS EACH WEEK, SCPR IS SUPPORTED IN PART BY OUR 80,000 MEMBERS WHO CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN $18 MILLION IN FY2021.SCPR CONTINUES TO MONITOR COVID-19 RELATED EVENTS, MAKING APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENTS TO ITS FUNDRAISING AND COST STRUCTURE. IN FY 2020, THE RISE TO THE CHALLENGE CAMPAIGN FOR PANDEMIC RELIEF HAS GENERATED OVER $8 MILLION IN ONE-TIME SUPPORT. IN FY2021, SCPR USED APPROXIMATELY $3.3 MILLION OF THESE FUNDS, AND THE REMAINDER WILL BE UTILIZED TO OFFSET ANY FUTURE MITIGATION EFFORTS.IN FY2021, PUBLIC SERVICE EVENTS HAVE NOT BEEN HELD IN PERSON DUE TO THE UNCERTAIN STATE OF THE PANDEMIC. HOWEVER, SCPR MAINTAINED EVENTS ON A DIGITAL PLATFORM WITH 32 FREE VIRTUAL EVENTS, OPEN TO ALL, 5 FREE VIRTUAL MEMBERSHIP EVENTS, AND 8 INVITE-ONLY VIRTUAL GALA EVENTS. IN THE MEANTIME, SCPR IS CURRENTLY ENHANCING THE CRAWFORD FAMILY FORUM TO MAKE IT A MORE DIGITAL FRIENDLY AND TOUCHLESS ENVIRONMENT, WHEN IT OPENS BACK UP FOR PUBLIC EVENTS. DURING FY21, SCPR AVERAGED OVER 1.04 MILLION WEB VISITORS TO SCPR.ORG AND LAIST.COM, OVER 31 THOUSAND MOBILE APP VISITS, 321 THOUSAND LIVESTREAM (CUME) LISTENERS, AND AVERAGED 792,000 MONTHLY PODCAST DOWNLOADS WITH 9.5 MILLION IN TOTAL PODCAST DOWNLOADS FOR THE YEAR THEREBY CONTINUING TO EXPAND NON-TRADITIONAL MEANS OF ENGAGING NEW AUDIENCES. THESE EFFORTS ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF SCPR'S BROADER APPROACH OF REACHING BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL PUBLIC RADIO AUDIENCE TO BETTER REFLECT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S EVOLVING DEMOGRAPHICS.SCPR'S LAIST STUDIOS IS OUR PODCAST PRODUCTION VEHICLE THAT PRODUCES VALUES THAT DRIVE LA.
