ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2021 SAF RECEIVED THE 2021 HALL OF FAME AND BEST OF SANTA MONICA AWARD IN THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CATEGORY BY THE SANTA MONICA AWARD PROGRAM FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR. WITH GENEROUS DONATIONS PROVIDED TO OUR ORGANIZATION IN 2021 ALONG WITH THE SUPPORT WE RECEIVED FROM OUR COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH VARIOUS COUNTY AGENCIES, SAF WAS ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE OVER $15,000 IN FINANCIAL AID STIPENDS AND COLLEGE-BOUND SCHOLARSHIPS TO YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN NEED. SAF FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AKUYOE GRAHAM, SERVED HER SECOND YEAR ON THE BOARD OF THE OFFICE OF VIOLENCE PREVENTION/COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP COUNCIL. SAF FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AKUYOE GRAHAM, RECEIVED THE INTEGRITY AWARD FROM THE LOS ANGELES WOMEN'S THEATRE FESTIVAL. SAF FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AKUYOE GRAHAM, WAS HONORED WITH THE INSPIRATIONAL SPIRIT AWARD DURING THE BLACK WOMEN LAWYERS ASSOCIATION OF LOS ANGELES, INC. INSTALLATION & AWARDS ALONGSIDE MAXINE WATERS (UNITED STATES CONGRESSWOMAN), SHIRLEY A. HENDERSON (CO-CONVENER AND 3RD PRESIDENT OF BWL) AND ACADEMY AWARD-WINNER KAREN RUPERT TOLIVER (EVP, CREATIVE AT SONY PICTURES ANIMATION). IN 2021, SAF OFFERED OUR VIRTUAL MENTORING LEADERS PROGRAM FOR FREE TO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS THROUGHOUT LA COUNTY AND PROVIDED OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN-PERSON AND VIRTUALLY TO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS AT THE FOLLOWING PROBATION FACILITIES, PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS, CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY-CENTERS: CENTRAL JUVENILE HALL SCHOOL; DOROTHY KIRBY CENTER SCHOOL; FRONTIER HIGH SCHOOL; JOHN MUIR HIGH SCHOOL EARLY COLLEGE MAGNET; NEW EARTH YOUTHBUILD, AND; WHITTIER HIGH SCHOOL. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, SAF CONTINUED TO SUPPORT YOUTH WITH MITIGATING LEARNING LOSS AND STRENGTHENING THEIR SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. IN 2021, SAF OFFERED OUR FIRST FINANCE LITERACY WORKSHOPS. THESE INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO BE MONEY-WISE SO THAT THEY CAN BE FINANCIALLY STABLE AS ADULTS. IN 2021, SAF BEGAN OUR NEWEST INITIATIVE TO CREATE THE FEATURE FILM, "SPIRIT AWAKENING." THIS FEATURE FILM (PRODUCED BY SPIRIT AWAKENING FOUNDATION) IS BASED ON OUR FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, ONE-WOMAN PLAY - THE PLAY THAT INSPIRED THE CREATION OF OUR ORGANIZATION. THE FILM WILL SERVE AS YET ANOTHER RESOURCE FOR THE SPIRIT AWAKENING FOUNDATION SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE IN DISCOVERING AND OWNING THEIR AUTHENTIC VOICES. AKUYOES PERSONAL STORY WILL INSPIRE ALL TO LIVE THEIR LIVES UNAPOLOGETICALLY AND WITH CONFIDENCE.
