ORGANIZED IN 1995, THE ST. THOMAS MORE SOCIETY OF LOS ANGELES (STMSLA) IS AN ASSOCIATION OF CATHOLIC LEGAL PROFESSIONALS. WE HAVE SELECTED ST. THOMAS MORE AS OUR PATRON WHO HAS INSPIRED LAWYERS OF ALL FAITHS FOR GENERATIONS. STMSLA IS A 501(C)(3)NONPROFIT CALIFORNIA CORPORATION HEADQUARTERED WITHIN THE SERVICE AREA OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF LOS ANGELES. STMSLA IS PERHAPS BEST KNOWN FOR HOSTING THE ANNUAL LOS ANGELES RED MASS. THE RED MASS BRINGS TOGETHER JUDGES, PUBLIC SERVANTS, AND LAWYERS IN PRAYER AND MARKS THE INFORMAL OPENING OF THE JUDICIAL SEASON. RELIGIOUS PROGRAMMING: HOSTED THE 40TH ANNUAL RED MASS IN PERSON AND LIVE STREAM AT THE CATHEDRAL OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS ON OCTOBER 26, 2022. THIS ECUMENICAL, CIVIC CELEBRATION HONORS LEGAL PROFESSIONALS AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS OF ALL FAITHS AND INFORMALLY OPENS THE JUDICIAL YEAR.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING: HOSTED AN AUTHOR EVENT ON JULY 8, 2022 WITH U.S. DISTRICT JUDGE ROBERT CONRAD. JUDGE CONRAD DISCUSSED HIS NEW BOOK "JOHN FISHER AND THOMAS MORE: KEEPING THEIR SOULS WHILE LOSING THEIR HEADS." ATTENDEES PARTICIPATED BOTH IN PERSON AND REMOTELY THROUGH A LIVE STREAM.
