WE ARE ALSO PURSUING INNOVATIVE WAYS TO TRANSFORM HEALTH CARE BY KEEPING PEOPLE HEALTHY, AND MAKING OUR SERVICES MORE CONVENIENT, ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE FOR ALL. IN AN INCREASINGLY UNCERTAIN WORLD, WE ARE COMMITTED TO HIGH-QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR EVERYONE - REGARDLESS OF COVERAGE OR ABILITY TO PAY. PROVIDENCE'S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FRAMEWORK AIMS TO DEPLOY THE ASSETS OF OUR SYSTEM TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT, STRENGTHEN LOCAL ECONOMIES AND REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT. WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED AN ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP SYSTEM STRATEGY THAT ENCOURAGES WASTE REDUCTIONS, EFFICIENT ENERGY AND WATER USAGE, LOCAL AGRICULTURE PARTNERSHIPS, LESS TOXIC AND FEWER CHEMICAL USE, AND A REDUCTION IN CARBON FROM TRAVEL. WE HAVE ALSO HELD ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AS ONE OF THE TOP PRIORITIES FOR OUR LEADERSHIP INCENTIVE PROGRAM TO ENSURE ALIGNMENT AND MOMENTUM CONTINUES. IN APRIL 2022, PROVIDENCE PUBLISHED ITS FIRST ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP REPORT, IN WHICH WE REPORTED 12 PERCENT REDUCTION IN CARBON EMISSIONS IN SEVEN KEY CATEGORIES IN OUR ACUTE CARE FACILITIES SINCE OUR 2019 BASELINE. AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2022, (THE MOST RECENT DATA AVAILABLE), WE HAVE INCREASED THAT REDUCTION TO 13 PERCENT.REALIZING OUR MISSION - THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDENCE HEALTH & SERVICES FOUNDATION SF & SCV SA IS TO RAISE FUNDS PRIMARILY FOR PROVIDENCE SAINT JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER, PROVIDENCE HOLY CROSS MEDICAL CENTER, AND PROVIDENCE TARZANA MEDICAL CENTER. THE MEDICAL CENTERS ARE COMMITTED TO THEIR MISSIONS OF CONTINUING THE HEALING MINISTRY OF JESUS IN THE WORLD OF TODAY WITH SPECIAL CONCERN FOR THOSE WHO ARE POOR AND VULNERABLE. THE MEDICAL CENTERS WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO REACH OUT TO THOSE IN NEED. THROUGH THESE COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS, THEY IMPROVE ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE AND PROVIDE HEALTH EDUCATION RESOURCES IN THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. DURING 2022 SOME OF THE LARGER GRANTS PAID TO THE MEDICAL CENTERS WERE USED FOR THE SAINT JOSEPH EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CAMPAIGN ($20,000,000), MINUTES MATTER CAMPAIGN AND FURNITURE FOR THE NEW EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT ($860,867), TARZANA ION SYSTEM THORACIC SURGERY ($666,500), HOLY CROSS WELCOME BABY PROGRAM ($432,516), AND MANY OTHER CAPITAL AND OPERATIONAL PURPOSES.THE FOUNDATION MAKES DIRECT PAYMENTS TO COMMUNITY BENEFIT ORGANIZATIONS EACH YEAR. DURING 2022 THE FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTED $301,966 TO ST. JOHN'S CANCER INSTITUTE. IT ALSO MADE PAYMENTS TO 20 OTHER COMMUNITY BENEFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $400,000.THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS CLINICS THAT PROVIDE MEDICAL SERVICES FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICES. DURING 2022, TOTAL PAYMENTS OF $70,575 WERE MADE TO THIS PROGRAM TO PAY FOR LAB WORK, X-RAYS, AND OTHER MEDICAL SERVICES FOR 332 PATIENTS.
