CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) IS OFFERED TO ALL MEMBERS. SCPS PRESENTED ITS ANNUAL ADVANCES IN PSYCHIATRY CONFERENCE (TO REPLACE THE ANNUAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY UPDATE) AS A VIRTUAL EVENT. IN SEPTEMBER, IN AN EFFORT TO HELP OUR MEMBERS TRANSITION TO E-PRESCRIBING WHICH BECAME MANDATORY IN CA ON JANUARY 1ST, 2022, WE HELD A MEETING ON LEGAL/MEDICAL MALPRACTICE ASPECTS OF E-PRESCRIBING WITH A PANEL OF MEMBERS ALREADY USING E-PRESCRIBING AND A VENDOR FAIR. IN NOVEMBER, ALONG WITH AN AFFILIATED PSYCHIATRIC ORGANIZATION, WE HELD A MEETING ABOUT THE AB 988 LEGISLATION AND ALTERNATIVE CRISIS REPSONSE. OTHER PROGRAMMING LISTED UNDER COMMITTEES.
SCPS HELD ITS ANNUAL CAREER FAIR FOR PSYCHIATRISTS, VIRTUALLY, DURING 2021. THE CAREER FAIR CONSISTS OF AN EDUCATIONAL COURSE IN THE MORNING AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PSYCHIATRISTS TO MEET WITH POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS IN THE AFTERNOON. THE EVENT DRAWS IN JOB SEEKERS FROM ALL OVER CALIFORNIA. UNFORTUNATELY, COVID-19 DID HAVE AN EFFECT ON THIS MEETING.
THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PHYCHIATRIST NEWSLETTER IS ISSUED ELEVEN TIMES A YEAR, SEPTEMBER THROUGH JULY, ELECTRONICALLY ON ITS WEBSITE AT WWW.SOCALPSYCH.ORG. THE NEWSLETTER IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR FREE TO THE PUBLIC VIA THE WEB. THE NEWSLETTER CONTAINS SCIENTIFIC, EDUCATIONAL, & RESEARCH ARTICLES, EDITORIALS, LETTERS, AND COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS. THE NEWSLETTER IS EMAILED TO ALL MEMBERS ON THE PUBLICATION DATE. THE NEWSLETTER HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE ROBUST AND HAS A SUCCESSFUL OPEN RATE.
