THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE A FACILITY FOR AND TO PROMOTE, SPONSOR AND ENCOURAGE PROJECTS, ACTIVITITES AND PROGRAMS TO MEET THE CHARITABLE, RELIGIOUS AND TO A LIMITED EXTENT THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE EDEN TOWNSHIP, ALAMEDA COUNTY WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON RESIDENTS OF JAPANESE ANCESTORY. OUR MEMBERSHIP IS APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 75 MEN AND WOMEN.

Part 3 - Line 4a

GENERAL FUND: THE EXPENSES LISTED ARE LIMITED TO THE COST OF OPERATING AND MAINTAINING THE FACILITY. FACILITY IS USED FOR CLASSES IN JAPANESE IKEBANA (FLOWER ARRANGEMENT), BONSAI (CULTIVATION OF DWARF TREES), KARATE AND TAIKO (DRUM). IN ADDITON, ASHLAND HOWAKAI (BUDDHIST RELIGIOUS GROUP), EDEN CHAPTER OF THE JAPANESE AMERICAN CITIZENS LEAGUE (JACL) AND EDEN YOUTH GROUP (HIGH SCHOOL AGE COMMUNITY SERVICE) HOLD REGULAR MEETINGS AT THE FACILITY. CLASSES ARE IMPLEMENTED AND SPONSORED BY THE EDEN TOWNSHIP JAPANESE COMMUNITY CENTER BUT ARE NOT FUNDED BY IT.


SENIOR CENTER FUND: WE SPONSOR A SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER FOR OUR ELDERLY WOMEN AND MEN. THE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER IS STAFFED BY VOLUNTEERS FROM THE COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM SERVES BETWEEN 20 TO 40 ELDERLY PERSONS RANGING IN AGE FROM 60 - 95 YEARS OLD. PROGRAM MEETS TWICE A MONTH. ADDITIONAL OUTREACH SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO THE ELDERLY AS NEEDED OR REQUESTED.


ATHLETIC PROGRAM FUND: WE HAVE AN ORGANIZED ATHLETIC GROUP TO PROVIDE A SPORTS OUTLET FOR CHILDREN OF OUR COMMUNITY. SPORT IS CURRENTLY DEDICATED TO BASKETBALL. WE SPONSOR 4 TO 8 TEAMS, WITH APPROXIMATELY 35-60 CHILDREN (GIRLS AND BOYS) AGES FROM 7 - 18. PROGRAM IS ASSISTED BY PARENT PARTICIPATION IN THE COACHING AND MANAGEMENT OF THE PROGRAM.
