STUDENTS WERE GIVEN QUESTIONS TO ANSWER ABOUT ALLEN. THEY LEARNED ABOUT ALLEN'S BEING A SLAVE IN SCHENECTADY, NY, AND HOW HE ESCAPE FINDING HIS WAY TO BOSTON WHERE MET HIS FATHER. ALLEN BECAME A SHIP HAND ON A COMMERCIAL SHIP THAT TOOK HIM AROUND THE WORLD. THE KING'S KUHUNA NUI GIFTED ALLEN SIX ACRES OF LAND NEAR WAIKIKI. HE MARRIED A HAWAIIAN WOMAN AND HAD THREE CHILDREN. WHO LIVED TO ADULT AGE. ALLEN DIED IN 1835.
