THE SAN MATEO PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION SEEKS PRIVATE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY TO ENSURE HIGH-QUALITY LIBRARY SERVICES WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE NOW AND FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. OUR OBJECTIVES ARE:- RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY MATERIALS AND EXPANDED COLLECTIONS, SUPPORT OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES, ADULT LITERACY PROGRAMS, BIOTECH RESOURCE LIBRARIAN AND IMPROVED FACILITIES.- SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL AND PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES DEVELOPED BY THE SAN MATEO PUBLIC LIBRARY.- SUPPORT SPECIAL PROJECTS AT THE REQUEST OF THE CITY LIBRARIAN INCLUDING CULTURAL EVENTS FOR THE COMMUNITY.
THE SAN MATEO PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND THE SAN MATEO PUBLIC LIBRARY WORK TOGETHER IN A STRONG PARTNERSHIP TO DETERMINE WHERE PRIVATE SUPPORT CAN HAVE THE GREATEST IMPACT WITHOUT SUPPLANTING THE PUBLICS ROLE IN FUNDING A VIBRANT LIBRARY SYSTEM. FOUNDATION FUNDING PROVIDES CRITICAL SUPPORT FOR LIBRARY PROGRAMS THAT STRENGTHEN EDUCATION AND EARLY LITERACY, ENRICH PERSONAL LEARNING AND RECREATION, FOSTER ECONOMIC AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, AND ENHANCE THE IMAGE AND IDENTITY OF SAN MATEO AND ITS SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS.
