DURING THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR, THE UNLV FOUNDATION INTRODUCED REBEL LEGACY, AN ONGOING STUDENT PHILANTHROPY INITIATIVE. AS A WAY OF HONORING THEIR CLASS YEAR, STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO GIVE GIFTS AMOUNTING TO $20.22 FOR 2022 AND $20.23 FOR 2023, AND SO FORTH. THEY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ANY AREA ON CAMPUS THAT THEY CHERISH OR TO THOSE THAT HAVE HAD A SIGNIFCANT IMPACT ON THEIR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. IN RETURN, THE STUDENT DONORS ARE EACH GIVEN A GREEN CORD TO WEAR DURING THEIR COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY AS A SYMBOL OF THEIR GENEROSITY. FROM THE START, STUDENTS DONATED WITH HEARTFELT MESSAGES, SOME EVEN IN MEMORY OF LOVED ONES. ONE STUDENT FROM THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, WHO CHOSE TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS, GAVE TO THE BOYD SCHOOL OF LAW'S IMMIGRATION CLINIC TO ENABLE DACA DREAMERS TO PURSUE THEIR HAPPINESS. SIMILARLY, A STUDENT FROM LEE BUSINESS SCHOOL DONATED TO THE MILITARY & VETERAN SERVICES CENTER IN HONOR OF THOSE BRAVELY SERVING OUR COUNTRY AND CONTINUING THEIR EDUCATION AT UNLV. SUPPORT CAME THROUGH SO MANY MEMBERS OF THE UNLV COMMUNITY-UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, PARENTS, AND ALUMNI-AND REPRESENTED NEARLY ALL ACADEMIC COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS. THE GREEN GENEROSITY CORDS WERE A VISUAL REMINDER OF THE GENEROSITY AND SPIRIT OF GIVING AT COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES IN BOTH THE FALL AND SPRING OF THE LAST SCHOOL YEAR.
