CHF IS STUDYING THE HYBRIDIZATION OF AFRICAN AND SOUTH AMERICAN CICHLIDS VIA EXPERIMENTAL FRESHWATER BREEDING AND GROWING SYSTEMS. THE WIDELY FARMED TILAPIA FISH ARE CICHLIDS. OUR RESEARCH WILL HELP RAISE GENETICALLY HARDY FOOD FISH AS A PROTEIN SOURCE COMPLEMENTING THE FOUNDATION'S CULTIVATION OF SPIRULINA.
THE FOUNDATION IS DESIGNING A SELF-CONTAINED AQUACULTURE MODULE THAT IS EASILY SHIPPED OR ASSEMBLED FROM A KIT. SIMPLE AND LOW COST, IT WILL BE EXPORTED OR MANUFACTURED IN COUNTRIES FACING MALNUTRITION. THE BASE "CROP" WILL BE SPIRULINA, PIONEERED BY DR. CHRISTOPHER HILLS AND PROFESSOR HIROSHI NAKAMURA IN THE 1960S,
ONCE PERFECTED, JOHN HILLS AND HIS SON, CHRISTOPHER HILLS V, WILL BE SEEKING OPTIMAL CONDITIONS IN HAWAII AND CALIFORNIA, WHERE THE YOUNGER HILLS HAS ACHIEVED HIS PERMACULTURE CERTIFICATE, APPLYING THE FAMOUS BILL MORRISON'S GROWING METHODS TO CHF PROJECTS. HE IS ALSO TEACHING PERMACULTURE TO CHILDREN.
