JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SAN JOSE (THE "ORGANIZATION") IS A CALIFORNIA NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH MEMBERSHIP OF OVER SIX HUNDRED. THE ORGANIZATION IS AN ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN, AND IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXCLUSIVELY EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE. THE MEMBERS ARE FROM VARYING BACKGROUNDS AND REPRESENT THE DIVERSE ROLES OF WOMEN IN THE GREATER SOUTH BAY AREA. THE ORGANIZATION'S VISION IS TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE COMMUNITY AS THE VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION OF CHOICE FOR CREATING TRANSFORMATIONAL WOMEN LEADERS AND MAKING POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION'S CURRENT COMMUNITY PROGRAM IS TO HELP TRANSITIONAL AGE FOSTER YOUTH AS THEY AGE OUT OF FOSTER CARE. THE ORGANIZATION, WHICH IS ONE OF THE 291 LEAGUES THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, MEXICO, AND GREAT BRITAIN, IS AFFILIATED WITH THE ASSOCIATION OF JUNIOR LEAGUES INTERNATIONAL, INC. (AJLI). AJLI REPRESENTS MORE THAN 140,000 WOMEN WORLDWIDE. TO MAINTAIN THE ORGANIZATION'S AFFILIATION WITH AJLI, THE LEAGUE PAYS 43 PER MEMBER ANNUALLY.
