THE AMERICAN LEGION IN DIXON, CALIFORNIA HAS HELD NUMEROUS RECRUITING EVENTS INVOLVING ITS COMMISSARY, COFFEE COUNTER, MEETING HALL AND MEMBERS BAR IN ORDER TO EDUCATE, INFORM, INVOLVE, AND INVITE LOCAL AND OUT OF TOWN VETERANS TO SEEK THE LEGION HALL AS A PLACE TO MOURN THEIR DEAD AND REMEMBER THEIR LOSS. OVER 9 DECEASED VETERANS PER DAY ARE NOW BEING INTERRED IN THE NEARBY SACRAMENTO VALLEY NATIONAL CEMETARY. ALONG WITH THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY NATIONAL CEMETARY SUPPORT COMMITTEE, THE LEGION HAS MADE ITS FACILITIES AVAILABLE AS A PLACE FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO CELEBRATE FINAL MILITARY HONORS FOR THOSE LOST IN BATTLE AND TO HONOR ALL VETERANS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WHO HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED UNDER HONORABLE CONDITIONS.THE LEGION HAS GAINED APPROVAL TO HOST TUESDAY NIGHT BINGO GAMES IN THE HALL AS LONG AS THERE IS NO RESERVATION FOR FUNERAL GATHERINGS. THE LEGION COMMANDER HAS OBTAINED THE NECESSARY LICENSES AND THE EVENT IS SUPERVISED BY THE GAMING PROVIDER. EXCESS PROFITS FROM THIS ACTIVITY ARE DEDICATED TO LOCAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
