DEDICATED LEGAL & POLICY PROGRAMS-THE ACLU NC FOUNDATION MAINTAINS SIX DEDICATED LEGAL AND POLICY PROGRAMS THAT CONDUCT LITIGATION, RESEARCH, POLICY ANALYSIS, PUBLIC EDUCATION, COALITION-BUILDING, AND POLICY ADVOCACY TO ADVANCE POSITIVE CHANGE ON KEY ISSUES. THE SIX PROGRAMS INCLUDE: 1) CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM, INCLUDING POLICING, 2) DEMOCRACY AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, INCLUDING VOTING RIGHTS, 3) GENDER, SEXUALITY AND REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, 4) IMMIGRANTS RIGHTS, 5) RACIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE, INCLUDING HOUSING, EDUCATION EQUITY AND INDIGENOUS JUSTICE, AND 6) TECHNOLOGY AND CIVIL LIBERTIES.
IMPACT LITIGATION PROGRAM - AS A KEY STRATEGY IN FURTHERANCE OF THE GOALS OF THE SIX LEGAL AND POLICY PROGRAMS LISTED IN 4A, THE ACLU NC FOUNDATION MAINTAINS AN ACTIVE DOCKET OF OVER 50 CASES TO CHALLENGE VIOLATIONS OF CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS. THE CASES ADDRESS A WIDE RANGE OF CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES, INCLUDING THE FIRST AMENDMENT FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND RELIGION, AS WELL AS RELATED ISSUES OF OPEN GOVERNMENT; CASES RELATED TOPRIVACY, IN A RANGE OF ARENAS SUCH AS REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, SURVEILLANCE, ANDTECHNOLOGY; CASES RELATED TO DUE PROCESS IN THE POLICE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE ANDIMMIGRANTS RIGHTS ARENAS, INCLUDING ACCESS TO COUNSEL; CASES RELATED TODISCRIMINATION AND EQUAL PROTECTION, ESPECIALLY IN THE CONTEXTS OF RACIAL JUSTICE,SEX AND GENDER EQUALITY, AND LGBT EQUALITY.
