ARTS-BASED DAY PROGRAM FOR ADULTS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM OR WHO HAVE COGNITIVE DISABILITIES AND ARE UNABLE TO FUNCTION AS INDEPENDENT ADULTS. ALONG WITH LEARNING A VARIETY OF VISUAL, TEXTILE, AND MUSIC ARTS, PARTICIPANTS. IN 2023, MANY COLORS OPERATED FOR A TOTAL OF 14 WEEKS BEGINNING ON JULY 10. A TOTAL OF 5 PARTICIPANTS WERE ENGAGED IN THE PROGRAM OFFERED TWICE A WEEK FROM 9:00-3:00 PM. SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: 1. SUCCESSFULLY CREATED AND SOLD ART WORKS ALLOWING EACH OF THEM TO RECEIVE $150.00 IN EARNINGS FROM THEIR WORK. 2. BEHAVIOR IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING SELF DIRECTION, ACCOMPLISHMENT OF WORK PROJECTS, AND REDUCTION OF PROBLEM BEHAVIORS. 3. PRIMARY CARETAKERS REPORTED A HIGHER LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION IN AND CONTRIBUTION TO FAMILY LIFE INCLUDING FEWER OUTBURSTS/BEHAVIORAL ISSUES AND MORE POSITIVE INTERACTIONS WITHIN THE FAMILY UNIT.
