INTERCONNECTION ENABLES DIGITAL EQUITY BY PROVIDING AFFORDABLE TECHNOLOGY AND CONNECTIVITY TO UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THROUGH SUSTAINABLE E-WASTE RECYCLING, REFURBISHMENT, AND RE-USE.

COMPUTER REUSE, DIGITAL EQUITY AND DIGITAL SUPPORT SERVICES. FOR MORE THAN 20 YRS, INTERCONNECTION HAS REBUILT, REFURBISHED, AND EXTENDED THE LIFE OF COMPUTERS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT. WE PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, AFFORDABLE (OR FREE-TO-END-USER) COMPUTERS AND TECH SUPPORT TO PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOMES, INCLUDING NEARLY 1,500 REFURBISHED COMPUTERS IN 2022 THAT WERE FREE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN IN LOW-INCOME, REFUGEE, YOUTH, AND HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THE NEED FOR DIGITAL EQUITY IS INCREASING DESPITE NEGATIVE IMPACTS TO OUR FUNDING BY THE ECONOMIC AND MARKET CHANGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE 2020 COVID PANDEMIC.


RESPONSIBLE RECYCLING OF ELECTRONICS WASTE. INTERCONNECTION PARTNERS WITH RIOS AND R2 CERTIFIED ELECTRONICS RECYCLER TO RESPONSIBLY RECYCLE ELECTRONICS THAT ARE AT THE END OF THEIR USEFUL LIFE. INTERCONNECTION IS ALSO A KEY PARTICIPANT IN WASHINGTON STATE'S E-CYCLE PROGRAM, PROVIDING A DROP-OFF POINT FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO RECYCLE BROKEN, OBSOLETE, OR WORN-OUT ELECTRONICS. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENTS, ENTITIES, AND COMPANIES TO RECYCLE AND REFURBISH THEIR OLD TECHNOLOGY. AS A RESULT OF THESE EFFORTS, INTERCONNECTION WAS ABLE TO DIVERT NEARLY 730,000 LBS. FROM LANDFILLS IN 2022 AND PREVENT TOXINS, RARE EARTH METALS, AND PLASTICS FROM ENTERING THE ECOSYSTEM.
