UNITE OREGON ACTION WORKS ACROSS URBAN AND RURAL DIVIDES TO BUILD A UNIFIED POLITICAL INTERCULTURAL MOVEMENT FOR JUSTICE IN OREGON. WE ARE LED BY PEOPLE OF COLOR, IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES, RURAL COMMUNITIES, AND PEOPLE EXPERIENCING POVERTY.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT THE 2021 LEGISLATIVE SESSION GAVE OREGON LEGISLATORS THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITIES, AND STRENGTHEN OREGON AMID THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, CLIMATE CRISIS, AND WILDFIRE SEASON. UNITE OREGON AND OUR PARTNERS FOUGHT FOR LEGISLATION TO ADVANCE RACIAL, SOCIAL, AND GENDER JUSTICE ACROSS THE STATE, AND LEGISLATORS RESPONDED BY PASSING KEY LEGISLATION, SUCH AS: SENATE BILL 282, THE TENANT COVID RECOVERY ACT, PROTECTING TENANTS BEYOND THE RECENTLY ENDED PAUSE ON EVICTIONS. SENATE BILL 778, CREATING AN OFFICE OF IMMIGRANT & REFUGEE ADVANCEMENT. HOUSE BILL 3265, STRENGTHENING OREGON'S STATUS AS A SANCTUARY STATE FOR IMMIGRANTS & REFUGEES. SENATE BILL 755, TO IMPLEMENT AND FUND THE DRUG TREATMENT AND RECOVERY ACT PASSED OVERWHELMINGLY AS MEASURE 110. HOUSE BILL 2935, THE CROWN ACT, TO END DISCRIMINATION AGAINST NATURAL HAIR STYLES IN SCHOOLS AND WORKPLACES. HOUSE BILL 3073, CREATING A NEW DEPARTMENT OF EARLY LEARNING AND CARE TO BETTER COORDINATE CHILD CARE AND EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS AND EXPAND EQUITABLE SERVICES.
PUBLIC POLICY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE TOOK PART IN SEVERAL C4 POWER PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. THE C4PP HAS ALLOWED US TO NETWORK WITH PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS ON NUMEROUS BILLS AND CAMPAIGNS. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SHARE RESOURCES AND ADOPT TECHNIQUES THAT OTHER ORGANIZATIONS USE. THE TRAININGS PROVIDED BY DHC HAVE HELPED OUR EFFORTS WITH CAMPAIGN MAPPING AND INITIATIVE PLANNING, WHILE THE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR COACHING EXPERIENCE HAS SUPPORTED AND UPLIFTED OUR CAMPAIGNS.
