THE OREGON WINEGROWERS ASSOCIATION ADVANCES AND PROTECTS THE INVESTMENTS OF ITS MEMBERS. HARNESSING THE POWER OF STATE-WIDE CONSENSUS, THE OWA STANDS AS A VITAL ADVOCATE FOR THE HEALTH, GROWTH AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY OF OREGON'S WINE GRAPE GROWING AND WINE PRODUCTION COMMUNITY.

THE OREGON WINEGROWERS ASSOCIATION IS A VOLUNTARY MEMBERSHIP-BASED ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING FOR THE OREGON WINE GRAPE AND WINE INDUSTRY. WE PROVIDE A UNIFIED VOICE ON KEY INDUSTRY ISSUES BEFORE STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, LEGISLATIVE BODIES AND RELATED ASSOCIATIONS. WE WORK TO DEVELOP A POSITIVE AND FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR OREGON'S WINERIES AND WINE GRAPE GROWERS. WE ALSO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT THROUGH OUR ANNUAL OREGON WINE SYMPOSIUM WITH EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS AND A TRADE SHOW WHICH SHOWCASED PRODUCTS AND SERVICES FROM VENDORS.
THE ORGANIZATION ADVOCATED FOR THE OREGON WINE INDUSTRY ON ISSUES RELATED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND HISTORIC 2020 WILDFIRES, ASSISTING MEMBERS WITH NAVIGATING NEW RULES AND REQUIREMENTS AND RELIEF OPPORTUNITIES. THE OWA SECURED PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION INCREASING OREGON'S DIRECT-TO-CONSUMER SHIPPING LIMIT FROM 2 TO 5 CASES PER MONTH, AND PARTNERED WITH OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY TO OBTAIN $2.7 MILLION IN STATE FUNDING TO INCREASE OSU'S CAPACITY TO TEST WINE AND WINEGRAPES FOR SMOKE IMPACTS DURING WILDFIRE EVENTS AND TO CONDUCT RESEARCH INTO MITIGATION TECHNIQUES. ADAPTING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE OWA HOSTED THE FIRST VIRTUAL OREGON WINE SYMPOSIUM TRADE SHOW IN FEBRUARY 2021 WITH 50 VENDORS PARTICIPATING. NEW BYLAWS TOOK EFFECT SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 ALONG WITH A MEMBER ELECTED 9-MEMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
