WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN - THE PURPOSE OF THE SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN (WIC) IS TO PROMOTE AND MAINTAIN THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF NUTRITIONALLY AT-RISK PREGNANT, BREASTFEEDING, AND POSTPARTUM WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN. BASED ON A HEALTH AND NUTRITIONAL ASSESSMENT, WIC PROVIDES NUTRITION EDUCATION, BREASTFEEDING EDUCATION AND SUPPORT, SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITIOUS FOODS, AND REFERRALS TO OTHER HEALTH AND NUTRITION SERVICES. IN 2021 WIC SERVED 3,070 CLIENTS.
OTHER PROGRAMS - INCLUDES COSTS TO PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF CONSULTING SERVICES WHICH ARE OFFERED TO NURSING HOMES, AREA HEALTH CLINICS, HEADSTART AND OTHER HUMAN SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. OTHER PROGRAMS ALSO INCLUDE NUTRITION CONSULTATION AND PRENATAL CARE COORDINATION. NHA PRENATAL CARE PROGRAM SERVED 212 PREGNANT WOMEN AND 8 CONTRACTS. OUR CONTRACTS WERE LIMITED BY THE IMPACT COVID HAD ON THE NURSING HOMES,QUARANTINES OF CLIENTS AND FISCAL IMPACT ON CLIENT FACILITIES.
THE HEALTH CHECK PROGRAM - UNDER BADGERCARE PROMOTES REGULAR PREVENTIVE MEDICAL CARE AND TREATMENT OF ANY HEALTH PROBLEM FOUND DURING A SCREENING. THE HEALTHCHECK PROGRAM CONSISTS OF IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS EARLY, CHECKING CHILDREN'S HEALTH AT REGULAR INTERVALS, DOING PHYSICAL, MENTAL, DEVELOPMENTAL, ORAL HEALTH, HEARING, VISION AND OTHER SCREENINGS TEST TO DETECT POTENTIAL PROBLEMS, REFERRING CLIENTS TO DIAGNOSTIC TESTS TO FOLLOW UP WHEN A RISK IS IDENTIFIED, AND TREATMENT FOR DISCOVERED PROBLEMS. THE HEALTH CHECK PROGRAM WAS VERY ADVERSELY IMPACTED BY COVID 19. PHYSICAL PRESENCE IS A REQUIRED PART OF THE PROGRAM DUE TO THE PHYSICAL ASSESSMENTS BEING DONE. THE REVENUE LOSS WAS SUBSTANTIAL. IN 2021, 457 CLIENTS RECEIVED HEALH CHECKS.
