WORKFORCE DIVISION. THROUGH CONTRACTS FROM THE SOUTHWEST OREGON WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD AND THE WILLAMETTE WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIP, SCB PROVISIONS WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) SERVICES IN COOS, CURRY, DOUGLAS, MARION, AND YAMHILL COUNTIES. SCBEC AND ITS PREDECESSOR HAS BEEN PROVIDING WORKFORCE SERVICES AND RELATED BUSINESS SERVICES CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1977.
EARLY LEARNING DIVISION. OUR MOST RECENT ADDITIONS ARE BANDON COMMUNITY CHILD CARE CENTER IN SEPTEMBER 2019 AND COOS/CURRY SHARED SERVICES ALLIANCE IN MARCH 2020. THESE PROGRAMS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE URGENT NEED OF STABILIZING OUR LOCAL ECONOMY BY ASSISTING FAMILIES TO RETURN TO WORK AND SUPPORTING CHILDCARE BUSINESSES USING THE PRINCIPLES OF THE IRON TRIANGLE: FULL ENROLLMENT, TIMELY CASHFLOW, AND LEVERAGED GOVERNMENT CONTRIBUTIONS.
SENIOR SERVICES DIVISION. SCBEC WAS DESIGNATED AS THE AREA AGENCY ON AGING BY THE SENIOR AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN 1989, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, STATE OF OREGON (SPD) TO PROVIDE SENIOR SERVICES (SOCIAL SECURITY ACT TITLE XIX PERSONAL CARE SERVICES, SPECIAL AGING OLDER AMERICANS ACT TITLE ILL PROGRAM, OREGON PROJECT INDEPENDENCE (OPI) AND USDA NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM SERVICES) IN COOS AND CURRY COUNTIES.
TRANSIT DIVISION. SINCE 1988, SCBEC HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE PROVISION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ON THE SOUTH COAST. IN THE EARLY YEARS OF 1988-1997, SCBEC PROVISIONED PUBLIC TRANSIT IN BOTH COOS AND CURRY COUNTIES. THEN FROM 1997 TO THIS CURRENT DATE, SCBEC HAS FOCUSED ON COOS COUNTY AS THE SERVICE AREA IN SEVERAL PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP CONFIGURATIONS. CURRENTLY SCBEC PROVIDES MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS TO THE COOS COUNTY AREA TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT.
