THE UNITED WAY OF CLATSOP COUNTY (UWCC) HAS AN EXTENSIVE PROGRAM IN PLACE TO DETERMINE THAT ITS DONATIONS ARE USED BY CHARITABLE TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE UWCC GOALS AND PHILOSOPHIES. FIRST, UNITED WAY VERIFIES THAT ALL MEMBER AGENCIES ARE TAX EXEMPT ENTITIES RECOGNIZED UNDER IRC SECTION 501(C)(3). SECONDLY, FINANCIAL STATEMENTS & TAX RETURNS OF THE MEMBER AGENCIES ARE PRESENTED TO THE UWCC'S ALLOCATION COMMITTEE. THIS COMMITTEE CONSISTS ENTIRELY OF VOLUNTEERS FROM THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH THE UWCC SERVES. THIS COMMITTEE ASSESSES THE NEED OF THE MEMBER AGENCIES, AND RECOMMENDS ALLOCATION AMOUNTS TO THE UWCC'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
