TITLE VI PROGRAM SERVICES ARE ADMINISTERED TO THE UPPER TANANA ELDERS RESIDING IN DOT LAKE, TANACROSS, TETLIN, NORTHWAY, EAGLE,TOK, MINTO AND NENANA. THE TITLE VI PROGRAMS PROVIDE OUTREACH, INFORMATION, AND REFERRALS, DIRECT CLIENT SERVICES AND ADVOCACY TO THE ELDERS IN THESE COMMUNITIES. SCHEDULED VISITS ARE MADE TO THESE COMMUNITIES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE SUCH SERVICES ALONG WITH CONDUCTING VARIOUS SURVEYS AND ASSESSMENTS DIRECTLY RELATED TO SENIOR'S NEEDS. WORKSHOPS ON HEALTH AND WELFARE ASSURE ELDERS OF THEIR ENTITLED BENEFITS. TITLE VI FAMILY CARE-GIVER PROGRAM WORKS IN CONJUNCTOIN WITH THE TANANA CHIEFS CONFERENCE AND THE FAIRBANKS NATIVE ASSOCIATION AND VARIOUS OTHER SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES IN THE CITY OF FAIRBANKS. WORKSHOPS ARE PRESENTED ALONG WITH EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION THROUGH DENAKKANAAGA'S QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER AND PAMPHLETS. AN ELDERS RESOURCE DIRECTORY IS PRINTED AND DISTRIBUTED IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER ELDER SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS.
DENAKKANAAGA HOLDS THEIR ANNUAL MEETING EACH YEAR IN ONE OF THE HOST VILLAGES IN THE DOYON REGION. THERE ARE ELDER DELEGATES FROM EACH OF THE 42 VILLAGES THAT ATTEND THE 5-DAY EVENT WHERE THEY ADDRESS ELDER ISSUES, CONCERNS AND NEEDS. TCC YOUTH DELEGATES ALSO ATTEND THIS ANNUAL EVENT UNDER THE AUSPICES OF TCC YOUTH PROGRAM. THE ELDERS PASS RESOLUTIONS, THEREBY GIVING DIRECTION TO THE STAFF OF DENAKKANAAGA IN THEIR PROGRAM DELIVERY SERVICES. THEY ALSO HOLD ELECTIONS FOR THEIR MEMBERSHIP BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND VOTE ON WHERE THE NEXT YEAR'S CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD. THE STAFF GIVES THEIR PROGRAM ACTIVITY REPORTS, FINANCIAL REPORT AND ACTIONS TAKEN ON THE RESOLUTIONS FROM THE PRIOR YEAR'S CONFERENCE.
A SPECIAL GRANT FOR I-PADS AND TRAINING TO USE THE I-PADS WAS MADE AVAILABLE THIS FISCAL YEAR THAT ASSISTED OUR ELDER COMMUNITY TO STAY CONNECTED WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND ASSIST WITH MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS WHEN NEEDED VIA TELEMEDICINE.
