PERSEVERANCE THEATRE'S MISSION IS TO CREATE PROFESSIONAL THEATRE BY AND FOR ALASKANS. WE VALUE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, CROSS-CULTURAL COLLABORATION, PROFESSIONAL RIGOR, AND REGIONAL VOICE.

THE ORGANIZATION PRODUCED A FOUR PLAY SEASON IN BOTH JUNEAU AND ANCHORAGE, INCLUDING A WORLD PREMIER BY AN ALASKA NATIVE PLAYWRIGHT IN ADDITION TO BELOVED CLASSICS LIKE A CHRISTMAS CAROL, AND MODERN SHOWS LIKE SILENT SKY. EDUCATION PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED IN BOTH CITIES WITH JUNEAU PROGRAMS INCLUDING THE SUMMER THEATRE ARTS RENDEZVOUS (STAR). A SPRING BREAK CAMP TOOK PLACE IN ANCHORAGE, AND VIRTUALLY IN JUNEAU. THREE INTERNS WERE WITH THE ORGANIZATION THROUGHOUT THE SEASON WORKING AND LEARNING IN A VARIETY OF DEPARTMENTS. PERSEVERANCE CONTINUES TO HAVE PLAYWRIGHTS UNDER COMMISSION AND TO STAFF MULTIPLE FULL TIME ARTISTS AS ACTORS, PLAYWRIGHTS, DIRECTORS, AND PRODUCERS. THE THEATRE WAS SHUT DOWN BY STATE MANDATE DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. PERSEVERANCE PIVOTED TO DIGITAL STREAMING AND HAS BEEN ABLE TO CONTINUE IN A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED CAPACITY.
EDUCATION - PROVIDES FOR THE SUMMER THEATRE ARTS RENDEZVOUS (STAR), A FIVE-WEEK YOUTH ACTING PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES THEATRICAL TRAINING AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.
