THE PURPOSE OF THE VIETNAMESE AMERICAN CANCER FOUNDATION (VACF) IS DEDICATED TO PREVENTING CANCER, IMPROVING PATIENT QUALITY OF LIFE, AND SAVING LIVES THROUGH CANCER EDUCATION, RESEARCH, ADVOCACY, AND SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY.

OUTREACH, EDUCATION & NAVIGATION PROGRAM PROVIDES OUTREACH, EDUCATION, AND NAVIGATION TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES ON HEALTH MATTERS INCLUDING SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, INSURANCE COVERAGE, LANGUAGE ACCESS, CHRONIC AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES SUCH AS HEPATITIS, COVID-19, ETC. WE REACHED OUT TO 311,567 PERSONS, DIRECTLY ENGAGED WITH 12,833 WHILE PROVIDING 34,717 REFERRALS AND LINKAGES TO CARE, CRISIS PREVENTION, FOOD DISTRIBUTION, PPES AND PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, NAVIGATION TO PREVENTATIVE CARE, VACCINATION, TRANSPORTATION, HOUSING SUPPORT, FINANCIAL ASSITANCE, ETC. FOR 9,126 COMMUNITY MEMBERS; AND 2,227 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED COVID-19 TESTING. ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.
THE CANCER CARE (EARLY DETECTION, PATIENT NAVIGATION, AND SUPPORT) PROGRAM PROVIDES IN-DEPTH DISEASE SPECIFIC EDUCATION (BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER, COLORECTAL CANCER, LIVER CANCER, ETC) ALONG WITH SCREENINGS/TESTING, AND PATIENT NAVIGATION FREE OF CHARGE FOR AT-RISK COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ESPECIALLY LOW-INCOME, UNDERINSURED, AND DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS. IN 2021, THE PROGRAM EDUCATED 7,817 AND PROVIDED (1)PATIENT NAVIGATION TO 4,280 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, (2)ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO 484 CANCER PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS, AND (3)452 CANCER SCREENINGS. ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.
THE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN RESEARCH PROVIDES COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT, INCLUDING VACF BEING COMMUNITY PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS IN COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH PROJECTS. IN 2021, THE PROGRAM MADE A COMMUNITY FOOTPRINT OF 13,245 REACHES, 6,699 ENGAGEMENTS AND AT LEAST 292 ENROLLMENTS IN VARIOUS PROJECTS TO INCREASE THE REPRESENTATION OF ASIAN AMERICANS.
