IN 2022, OUR TOP THREE PROGRAM EXPENDITURES SERVED TO MAKE PROGRESS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS. 1 VEGETATION MANAGEMENT IN THE EL MONTE VALLEY FOR THE PURPOSE OF FIRE PREVENTION, WORKING WITH PROPERTY OWNERS TO CLEAR BRUSH AND PRUNE TREES IN A WAY THAT ELIMINATED POTENTIAL FUEL FOR WILDFIRES. 2 CONTROLLED INVASIVE SPECIES ALONG THE SAN DIEGO RIVER, ESPECIALLY ARUNDO DONAX, WHICH CAN CHOKE WATERWAYS AND PRESENT BOTH FLOOD AND FIRE HAZARDS. 3 MAINTENANCE OF THE RIVER PARK TRAIL AND WETLAND AREA TO CULTIVATE NATIVE SPECIES, CONTROL INVASIVE SPECIES, AND KEEP THE TRAIL CLEAR AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE COMMUNITY.
