THE MLRC WORKS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SQUAXIN ISLAND COMMUNITY AND OTHER NATIVE PEOPLES IN PROTECTING AND REAFFIRMING TRADITIONS AND BELIEFS, ENCOURAGING CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, AND EMPOWERING THE INDIAN VOICE; ENSURING THAT THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR ANCESTORS, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE WILL SURVIVE AND FLOURISH FOR PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. PROVIDING A GATHERING PLACE FOR ALL GENERATIONS, A PLACE TO SHOWCASE THE AUTHENTIC HISTORY OF THE SQUAXIN ISLAND TRIBE, REPOSITORY OF ANCESTRAL ITEMS AND TEACHINGS, AN ARCHIVE TO PROTECT THE HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS AN PHOTOGRAPHS AND A PLACE TO ENCOURAGE THE EXPRESSION OF NORTHWEST NATIVE ART.
