FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA) IS A CAREER-TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION RECOGNIZED AND SPONSORED BY THE US DEPT. OF EDUCATION AND BY THE VA DEPT. OF EDUCATION. ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES IS A TYPE OF MEMBERSHIP WITHIN THE FCCLA BYLAWS AND IS COMPOSED OF ADULTS WHO ARE FORMER MEMBERS AND/OR WISH TO VOLUNTEER TO PROVIDE SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO THE SECONDARY SCHOOL MEMBERS. THE MISSION OF ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES OF VA FCCLA IS TO BE A SOURCE OF STRENGTH, GROWTH, AND DEVELOPMENT TO THE VA ASSOCIATION OF FCCLA THROUGH THE CONTINUED INVOLVEMENT OF ALUMNI AND SUPPORTERS. PROVIDE PROGRAMMING AND COORDINATION SERVICES FOR LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES AT STATE FCCLA CONFERENCE AND EVENTS FOR THE STUDENT MEMBERS OF VIRGINIA FCCLA AND THEIR TEACHERS. A MINIMUM OF SEVEN LEADERSHIP MEETINGS/ACTIVITIES ARE SCHEDULED ANNUALLY FOR VA FCCLA AND ITS LEADERSHIP TEAM - THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (SEC). REGISTRATION AND PROGRAM COORDINATION IS MANAGED BY VA ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES, WORKING COOPERATIVELY WITH THE SEC AND THE VA FCCLA BOARD OF DIRECTORS. OVER 6000 STUDENTS AND 230 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED IN THESE MEETINGS DURING THE YEAR.
PROVIDE COORDINATION SERVICES AND TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR VIRGINIA FCCLA STUDENTS MEMBERS AND THEIR TEACHERS/CHAPERONES ATTENDING THE ANNUAL FCCLA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (SEATTLE - JULY 2024) - SITE SELECTED BY THE NATIONAL FCCLA ORGANIZATION. AT THE 2024 CONFERENCE 303 STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM VIRGINIA FCCLA ATTENDED. ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES ARRANGED SEVERAL GROUP ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATIONAL TOURS, STATE DELEGATION MEETINGS, AND RELATED ACTIVITIES FOR ALL VIRGINIA ATTENDEES. ALONG WITH THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE, VIRGINIA ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES COORDINATES PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AIMED AT HELPING FCCLA CHAPTERS ACROSS THE STATE IN STRENGTHENING THEIR FCCLA PROGRAMS. CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT INCLUDED NETWORKING AND TRAINING SESSIONS FOR TEACHERS, AND VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUAL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WHO NEED/REQUEST ASSISTANCE WITH FCCLA ACTIVITIES IN THEIR LOCAL SCHOOLS.
THE GOVERNING BODY OF VIRGINIA ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES MEETS AT LEAST TWO TIMES ANNUALL TO PLAN COORDINATION OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM ACTIVITIES DESCRIBED ABOVE, PLUS ONE ADDITIONAL MEETING WITH THE VA FCCLA BOARD OF DIRECTORS. UP TO THREE MEMBERS OF THE ALUMNI EXECUTIVE BOARD ATTEND THE ANNUAL NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE TO PROVIDE THE COORDINATION SERVICES FOR THE STATE DELEGATION OF STUDENT FCCLA MEMBERS AND THEIR TEACHERS. THE EXPENSES OF THESE GOVERNING BODIES PLANNING MEETINGS AND PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE, ALONG WITH THEIR ROUTINE OPERATING EXPENSES COMPRISES THIS THIRD PROGRAM SERVICE CATEGORY FOR ALUMNI & ASSOCIATES OF VIRGINIA FCCLA.
