ORCA RELIEF WORKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ENGAGE THE PUBLIC AND INFLUENCE THE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH & WILDLIFE PROCESS AS NEW PROTECTION GUIDELINES WERE DEVELOPED FOR THE CRITICALLY ENDANGERED SOUTHERN RESIDENT ORCA WHALES. THIS PROCESS RESULTED IN STRONG PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR PROTECTING THE SRKWS THROUGH STRICT WDFW LICENSING GUIDELINES FOR THE WHALE-WATCHING INDUSTRY THAT WENT INTO EFFECT IN JANUARY 2021.
