THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INTERESTED PARTIES TO FURTHER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND THEREBY SUPPORT VARIOUS LOCAL CIVIC AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. A SUMMARY OF THIS YEARS ACHIEVEMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:OPERATION SANTA CLOTHES:THE ROTATY CLUB OF THE HIGH DESERT - HESPERIA WORKED WITH TEACHERS, PARENTS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE TO IDENTIFY NEEDY CHILDREN. THIS YEAR THE CLUB PARTNERED WITH SUPER TARGET TO PROVIDE 105 NEEDY CHILDREN WITH TOYS AND CLOTHES.INTERACT CLUB: THE CLUB EXPANDED AND SPONSORED 4 INTERACT CLUBS AT EXCELSIOR AVIATION MEDICINE & ENGINEEEING ACADEMY, SILVERADO HIGH SCHOOL, HESPERIA HIGH SCHOOL AND OAK HILLS HIGH SCHOOLS IN VICTORVILLE AND HESPERIA CA. THIS IS A CLUB FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGES 12-18 WHO WANT TO JOIN TOGETHER TO TACKLE THE ISSUES IN THEIR COMMUNITY. THRU INTERACT, THE CLUB MEMBERS CAN CARRY OUT HANDS-ON SERVICE PROJECTS, MAKE INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS, DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND HAVE FUN.ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS (RYLA): THE CLUB SPONSORS THE RYLA TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, EMPHASIZING LEADERSHIP, CITIZENSHIP AND PERSONAL GROWTH. SIX HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE SPONSORED THIS YEAR.TEAM LEADERSHIP CAMP (TLC): THE CLUB SPONSORS THE TLC LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM FOR 8TH GRADERS. THE CLUB SPONSORED SIX STUDENTS WHO INTERACTED AND PARTICIPATED WITH 180 OTHER 8TH GRADERS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT.SCHOLARSHIPS: THE CLUB MADE A CONTRIBUTION TO THE VICTOR VALLEY COLLEGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. TWO SCHOLARSHIP RECEPIENTS WERE SELECTED AND RECEIVED $500 EACH. IN ADDITION THE CLUB ALSO PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS TO FOUR INDIVIDUALS BASED ON APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED TO THE CLUB.COMMUNITY DONATIONS: THE CLUB MADE A DONATION OF EQUIPMENT TO THE HESPERIA PARKS AND RECREATION DISTRICT TO ENHANCE THEIR DOG PARK AND A DONATION TO THE VICTOR VALLEY ANIMAL PROTECTION LEAGUE FOR PET FOOD FOR SENIORS. ROTARY DISTRICT, ROTARY FOUNDATION AND ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS: OUR CLUB ALSO MADE VARIOUS ROTARY FOUNDATION COMMITMENTS THAT HELPED TO SUPPORT WORLD-WIDE PROGRAMS WHICH PROVIDE CLEAN WATER, PROMOTE LITERACY, CONTINUE TO ERADICATE POLIO, FUND MATCHING GRANTS, EXCHANGES AND SCHOLARSHIPS.
