2021 WAS A MONUMENTAL YEAR FOR SHARED HOUSING SERVICES (SHS).IN APRIL OF 2021, SHS BOARD OF DIRECTORS PASSED A RESOLUTION TO EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY OF MERGING SHS PROGRAMS, STAFF, AND ASSETS WITH AN AFFINITY ORGANIZATION TO BUILD CAPACITY TO SERVE THE GROWING NEED IN THE COMMUNITY. AFTER VETTING ELEVEN ORGANIZATIONS, THE BOARD AUTHORIZED THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND BOARD PRESIDENT TO APPROACH AND NEGOTIATE AND POSSIBLE MERGER WITH ASSOCIATED MINISTRIES. BOTH ORGANIZATIONS CONTRACTED WITH OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS TO COMPLETE THE DUE DILIGENCE PROCESS FOR MERGING THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS. ON OCTOBER 27, 2022, SHS BOARD OF DIRECTORS UNANIMOUSLY PASSED A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MERGER OF SHS WITH ASSOCIATED MINISTRIES TO BECOME EFFECTIVE ON DECEMBER 31, 2022, AT 5:00PM PACIFIC TIME. ALSO AT THE OCTOBER 27TH BOARD MEETING, SHS BOARD OF DIRECTORS UNANIMOUSLY PASSED A RESOLUTION TO DISSOLVE SHS AS AN ENTITY EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 31, 2022, AT 5:00PM PACIFIC TIME.DUE TO PURSUING A MERGER WITH AN AFFINITY ORGANIZATION, SHS DID NOT CONDUCT ANY FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AFTER APRIL. SHS DID APPLY FOR AND RECEIVED A SECOND PPP LOAN OF $50,300 WHICH WAS FORGIVEN BY THE SMALL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION IN DECEMBER 2021.THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC CONTINUED TO IMPACT SHS THREE (3) HOMESHARING PROGRAMS, ADULT HOMESHARING (AHS), COLLEGIATE HOMESHARING (CHS), AND YOUTH HOST HOMES. WHILE ETHE OFFICES REMAINED OPEN, MEETINGS AND INTAKES CONTINUED TO BE CONDUCTED VIA TELEPHONE OR VIRTUALLY WHICH GREATLY LENGTHENED THE PROCESS. ACCOMPLISHMENTS ACHIEVED BY THE HOMESHARING PROGRAMS IN 2021 WERE:THE ADULT HOMESHARING (AHS) PROGRAM COMPLETED FORTY-SIX (46) HOME SHARE MATCHES VERSUS SEVENTY (70) IN 2020. THIS WAS A DECREASE OF THIRTY-FOUR PERCENT (34.3%). THE YOUTH HOST HOME (YHH) PROGRAM HOUSED TWENTY-TWO (22) YOU AND YOUNG ADULTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS FOR THE YEAR VERSUS TWENTY-FIVE (25) IN 2020. THIS WAS A SLIGHT DECREASE OF TWELVE PERCENT (12%).
