LAND PROTECTION PROGRAMSAIDED IN THE PRESERVATION OF 172 ACRES OF LA CONNER FARMLAND OWNED BY NANCY DUNTON. THE PROPERTY CONTAINS EXCEPTIONAL SOILS IN THE SCENIC VALLEY AND IS NOW IN PERMANENT PROTECTION VIA SKAGIT COUNTY'S FARMLAND LEGACY PROGRAM.SUCCESSFULLY PARTNERED WITH SKAGIT COUNTY'S FARMLAND LEGACY PROGRAM AND THE PIERSON FAMILY TO PERMANENTLY PROTECT 285.73 ACRES OF PRIME FARMLAND NEXT TO THE COOK ROAD FREEWAY INTERCHANGE. THE PROPERTY WAS THE GENESIS OF SPF WHEN, IN 1989, A DEVELOPER ATTEMPTED TO BUILD AN AGRICULTURAL-THEMED AMUSEMENT PARK ON THE PIERSON FARMLAND. FIVE FARM FAMILIES ALLIED TO FORGE A LASTING LEGACY OF FARMLAND PRESERVATION.
