WSIA SPONSORS CONFERENCES RELATED TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION LAWS AND REGULATIONS, WORKPLACE SAFETY, AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION. THESE CONFERENCES ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS AROUND THE STATE OF WASHINGTON. SUCH CONFERENCES PROVIDE A VENUE FOR EMPLOYER/MEMBERS TO COLLABORATE AND NETWORK AND BECOME MORE INFORMED ABOUT ISSUES AFFECTING THEM AS SELF-INSURERS.
WSIA ACTS AS AN ADVOCATE IN THE LEGISLATURE ON BEHALF OF THOSE EMPLOYERS IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON WHO SELF-INSURE THEIR WORKERS' COMPENSATION RISK AND BENEFITS PROGRAMS. ADDITIONALLY, THE ASSOCIATION ACTS AS AN ADVOCATE WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIES AND IS A PROPONENT OF FAIR AND SWIFT ADJUDICATION BY THE BOARD OF INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE APPEALS.
