SEATTLE SYMPHONY UNLEASHES THE POWER OF MUSIC, BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER, & LIFTS THE HUMAN SPIRIT.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE SEATTLE SYMPHONY IS ONE OF AMERICA'S LEADING ORCHESTRAS, AND IS INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED FOR ITS INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMING AND EXTENSIVE RECORDING HISTORY. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESULTED IN THE CANCELLATION OF MOST OF SEATTLE SYMPHONY'S IN-PERSON SEPTEMBER-JULY CONCERTS. TO REACH AUDIENCES SAFELY, THE SYMPHONY LAUNCHED SEATTLE SYMPHONY LIVE, A DIGITAL BROADCASTING PLATFORM. HOWEVER, THE PLATFORM PROVIDED ONLY A FRACTION OF PRE-PANDEMIC CONCERT ATTENDANCE, REACHING ROUGHLY 3,500 HOUSEHOLDS EACH WEEK. THE SYMPHONY ALSO PROVIDED STREAMING SERVICES TO OTHER ARTISTIC ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS EVENTS TAKING PLACE AT BENAROYA HALL.
WHILE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTED ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMMING, THE NEW STREAMING PLATFORM, SEATTLE SYMPHONY LIVE, HAS ENHANCED THE SYMPHONY'S EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OUTREACH, WITH ALL PROGRAMS FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT NOW PROVIDED DIGITALLY. CONSEQUENTLY, THERE HAS BEEN GROWTH IN THE GEOGRAPHIC REACH FOR THESE PROGRAMS, WITH FAMILIES, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ACROSS THE STATE AND EVEN CANADA NOW PARTICIPATING IN THE LINK UP AND YOUNG COMPOSERS WORKSHOP PROGRAMS.
