BMH VILLAGE ENVISIONS A WORLD WHERE BLACK PEOPLE CAN LIVE HAPPY AND HEALTHY LIVES. TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN, WE'RE WORKING ON BUILDING A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY INTERESTED IN HEALING AND COLLECTIVE LIBERATION.

HARM REDUCTION & HEALTH INITIATIVES : AT BLACK MENTAL HEALTH VILLAGE, OUR HEALTH INITIATIVE AND HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES THROUGH ACCESSIBLE HARM REDUCTION TOOLS, EDUCATION, AND PARTNERSHIPS, WITH A FOCUS ON EQUITABLE SUPPORT FOR THOSE MOST IMPACTED. WE PROVIDE NALOXONE OVERDOSE PREVENTION EDUCATION, SEXUAL EDUCATION, AND COVID EDUCATION, ALONG WITH RESOURCES SUCH AS COVID TESTS, CONDOMS, TESTING STRIPS, AND NALOXONE KITS, ENSURING COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY. OUR VACCINE EQUITY ACCESS PROGRAM (VEAP) AT BLACK MENTAL HEALTH VILLAGE ENHANCES ACCESS TO VACCINE EDUCATION, COVID TESTING, AND VACCINATIONS, PARTICULARLY FOR COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. WE RECOGNIZE THE CHALLENGES FACED BY ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECTED BY COVID-19 HEALTH INEQUITIES AND WORK TO OVERCOME THESE BARRIERS THROUGH TARGETED EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EFFORTS.
MENTAL HEALTH : OUR HBCU/COLLEGE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM FOCUSES ON ADDRESSING COLLEGE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THROUGH OUR AMBASSADOR PROGRAM AND SPECIALIZED PROGRAMMING. WE PROVIDE MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND RESOURCES TAILORED TO THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS, BOTH ONLINE AND IN-PERSON. OUR EFFORTS INCLUDE SOCIAL MEDIA EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY, ORGANIZING MENTAL HEALTH AND HEALTH JUSTICE CONFERENCES, ENGAGING WITH MEDIA THROUGH RADIO SHOWS, AND FOSTERING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THROUGH ACTIVITIES LIKE TABLING, TOWN HALLS, AND LUNCH AND LEARNS. COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH: WE OFFER A RANGE OF COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMMING AIMED AT PROMOTING WELL-BEING AND RESILIENCE. THIS INCLUDES ACTIVITIES SUCH AS YOGA, MEDITATION SESSIONS, SUPPORT GROUPS, MENTAL HEALTH KICKBACKS, LISTENING SESSIONS, HEALING FOR HEALER?S WORKSHOPS, ART THERAPY SESSIONS, AND SPECIALIZED YOUTH PROGRAMMING. THESE INITIATIVES ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE HOLISTIC SUPPORT AND PROMOTE MENTAL WELLNESS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES. FISCALLY SPONSORED PROGRAMMING: OUR ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS FISCALLY SPONSORED PROGRAMMING INITIATIVES SUCH AS MEN IQ AND NANA?S CIRCLE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DEDICATED TO ADDRESSING SPECIFIC MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY, OFFERING TARGETED SUPPORT AND RESOURCES TO THOSE IN NEED.
CAPACITY BUILDING : OUR CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM AT BLACK MENTAL HEALTH VILLAGE IS DEDICATED TO ENHANCING MENTAL HEALTH SKILLS, PROMOTING HEALTH JUSTICE, AND SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS IN INCORPORATING TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE AND MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMMING INTO THEIR SERVICES. WE PROVIDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH WORKSHOPS AND RESOURCES, MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WITH INTERNSHIP, CONFERENCE, ABSTRACT OPPORTUNITIES, AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS TO ADVANCE THEIR EXPERTISE.
