Part 3
FOUNDED IN 2019, SIDEWAYS SUNLIGHT MINISTRIES (SSM) MISSION IS TO BRING SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TO CHILDREN LIVING IN AT-RISK SITUATIONS IN ATHENS, GEORGIA. SSM SEEKS FUN AND CREATIVE WAYS TO MAKE DEEP AND MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS TO THE CHILDREN WITHIN THE COMMUNITY WHILE TEACHING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS THROUGH OUR (1) WEEKLY CHURCH GATHERINGS (2) MENTOR SHIP PROGRAM AND (3) COMMUNITY SUPPORT. WEEKLY CHURCH GATHERINGS ALLOWS CHILDREN FROM THE ROCKSPRINGS COMMUNITY TO GATHER AT A LOCAL CHURCH EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT WHERE EACH CHILD IS SERVED HOLISTICALLY. THIS APPROACH TO CARING FOR THE YOUTH LOOKS LIKE TENDING AND FOCUSING ON EVERY FACET OF EACH CHILD'S BING SUCH AS THE PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS. SSM FOCUSES ON PROVIDING EXCEPTIONAL BIBLICAL LESSONS CENTERED ON UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, HEALTH HOME-MADE MEALS, EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH TOOLS, AND HEALTHY COMMUNICATION. SSM'S MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PAIRING EACH CHILD WITH A SAFE AND JESUS LOVING ADULT WHO WILL GUIDE AND SUPPORT THEM THROUGH THE JOYS AND HARDSHIPS OF LIFE. EACH MONTH THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES MONTHLY OUTINGS FOR THE MENTOR PAIRINGS. WE SUPPORT MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WITH SEVERE NEEDS SUCH AS HOMELESSNESS, LACK OF PROPER CLOTHING, AND FOOD DISPARITY. THE GOAL OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IS TO SERVE THE PHYSICAL, FINANCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
