Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
YOUTHLINC EXISTS TO CREATE LIFETIME HUMANITARIANS THROUGH LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AND TO PROVIDE EXTRACURRICULAR SUPPORT TO LOCAL MARGINALIZED YOUTH POPULATIONS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAM FOR UTAH'S YOUTH: YOUTHLINC WAS ABLE TO SEND OUT OVER 200 VOLUNTEERS TO 4 COUNTRIES IN THE SUMMER OF 2021 EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC AND WERE ABLE TO HELP THOSE VOLUNTEERS COMPLETE OUR FULL PROGRAM AND DO INTERNATIONAL SERVICE. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS ABOUT HALF OF OUR NORMAL CAPACITY, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED WITH THE PANDEMIC, WE WERE GLAD TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS. WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID ILLNESS FROM THE PANDEMIC WITH 100% SUCCESS RATE ON OUR TRIPS.
REAL LIFE: REAL LIFE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT YOUTH. HOWEVER, SOME SITES WERE ALL VIRTUAL, SOME WERE HYBRID. SOME ALLOWED VOLUNTEERS, SOME DID NOT. BUT WE WERE GRATEFUL TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE PROVIDING THIS IMPORTANT SERVICE TO THIS VULNERABLE POPULATION AND HELP THEM MAKE GAINS IN THEIR SCHOOL WORK AND LIFE SKILLS.
YOUNG HUMANITARIAN AWARD PROGRAM: THE PROGRAM RECOGNIZES UTAH RESIDENTS WHO ARE HIGH SCHOOL OR UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO EXCEL IN THEIR EFFORTS TO GIVE BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE OVERALL WINNER OF THE AWARD RECEIVES A MONETARY AWARD TO BE USED FOR TUITION FOR EITHER UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE STUDIES AT THE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY OF THE STUDENT'S CHOICE. WE ARE INDEBTED TO THE GEORGE S. AND DOLORES DOR ECCLES FOUNDATION, ROBERT D. KENT JR. TRUST, AND SHAUN AND ANNETTE MICHEL FOR MAKING THIS AWARD POSSIBLE. WE AWARDED 22,000 AND ANY STUDENTS ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HAD THEIR SCHOLARSHIP FROM YOUTHLINC MATCHED WITH FUNDS FROM THE A RAY OLPIN STUDENT UNION.
ANNUAL BENEFIT: OUR REGULAR ANNUAL BENEFIT, HELD IN AUGUST 2021, WAS BACK IN-PERSON. WE RE-DESIGNED THE EVENT TO BE OUTDOORS AND TO CELEBRATE MORE OF THE PROGRAMS YOUTHLINC HAS TO OFFER. THE BENEFIT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS AND HELPED PAVE THE WAY FOR US TO START OF THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR STRONG IN TERMS OF DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT.
