PROVIDED FREE LEGAL SERVICES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN UTAH, NEVADA, AND WYOMING. FREE LEGAL SERVICES INCLUDE VOLUNTEER PARTICIPATION BY LAW STUDENTS AND ATTORNEYS IN ALL THREE STATES. DURING THE YEAR, RMIC REPRESENTED INDIVIDUALS IN 61 DIFFERENT INVESTIGATIONS OR LITIGATION. SUCCESSFUL EFFORTS INCLUDED CLIENTS RELEASED ON PAROLE, DNA TESTING USED IN THREE CASES, AN ACTUAL INNONCENCE PETITION FILED, TWO ARGUMENTS GIVEN IN FRONT OF THE NEVADA SUPREME COURT, AND EXTENSIVE LITIGATION OF OTHER PENDING CASES. RMIC HAD A NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS FROM NUMEROUS PROGRAMS DURING 2021: 10 EXTERNS THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH S.J. QUINNEY SCHOOL OF LAW INNONCENCE CLINIC; TWO EXTERNS FROM THE UNLV BOYD LAW SCHOOL; PRESENTATIONS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA - RENO AND THE ACLU OF UTAH. IN TOTAL, RMIC HAD MORE THAN 100 LAWYERS AND LAW STUDENTS CONTRIBUTING MORE THAN 3,000 HOURS TOWARDS ACHIEVING THEIR MISSION.
