OUR MISSION IS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO FOOD ACROSS UTAH THROUGH ADVOCACY, OUTREACH, AND EDUCATION. UTAHNS AGAINST HUNGER IS UTAHS ONLY STATE-WIDE ANTI-HUNGER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WORKING ON PUBLIC POLICY AND ADVOCACY FOR FEDERAL NUTRITION PROGRAMS.

STATE LEGISLATURE 2021: - WORKED TO PASS LEGISLATION THAT LED TO THE FORMATION OF THE FOOD SECURITY TASK FORCE, SB 141 TASK FORCE ON FOOD SECURITY. - ADVOCATED FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRIES. COMMUNITY PARTNER OUTREACH COLLABORATION: - SURVEYED COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRIES AND FOOD BANKS AND PUBLISH THE RESULTS IN THE 2021 FOOD PANTRY REPORT. THIS REPORT HIGHLIGHTS THE GAPS IN SERVICE AND FUNDING THAT CONTINUE TO STYMIE PANTRIES IN UTAH, - TRANSLATED SNAP OUTREACH MATERIALS INTO NINE LANGUAGES- MAKING IT EASIER FOR IMMIGRANT HOUSEHOLDS TO ACCESS FOOD ASSISTANCE, - HELD A SERIES OF NINE STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS ACROSS THE STATE, HELPING US IDENTIFY BARRIERS TO ACCESS TO FOOD AND HOW TO FIND LOCAL SOLUTIONS TO ELIMINATE THOSE BARRIERS, - RESEARCHED, WROTE, AND PUBLISHED COUNTY-LEVEL FOOD ACCESS PROFILES WHICH PROVIDE FEDERAL NUTRITION PROGRAM INFORMATION AND DATA ON THE COUNTY LEVEL. - PARTICIPATED IN PLANNING MEETINGS RELATED TO PANDEMIC-EBT AND HOW THOSE BENEFITS CAN REACH MORE STUDENTS, - HELD A TOWN HALL MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVE CHRIS STEWART, WHO EXPRESSED HIS SUPPORT FOR FEDERAL EFFORTS TO EXTEND SNAP BENEFITS TO MORE COLLEGE STUDENTS. - THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CO-CHAIRED THE FOOD SECURITY TASK-FORCE AND CO- WROTE THE REPORT TO THE UTAH STATE LEGISLATURE. - RESEARCHED, WROTE AND PUBLISHED THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE FUND REPORT, WHICH DETAILS THE CHALLENGES FACED BY FOOD PANTRIES ACROSS THE STATE AND THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE STATE. - PUBLISHED THE 2021 PANTRY REPORTS THAT DETAILS THE RESULTS OF THE 2021 PANTRY SURVEY. THE SURVEY REPORTS ON FUNDING GAPS AND CHALLENGES PANTRIES FACED IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, AND HOW THEY ADAPTED SERVICES.
