Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE UA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ADVANCES THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA THROUGH AN ACTIVE AND ENGAGED GLOBAL COMMUNITY OF WILDCATS. WE SERVE MORE THAN 290,000 FORMER UA STUDENTS LIVING IN ALL 50 U.S. STATES AND IN MORE THAN 150 COUNTRIES. WE OFFER PROGRAM AND SERVICES THROUGH AN ALUMNI NETWORK OF CHAPTERS AND CLUBS, ALUMNI CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION SERVICES, A TRAVEL PROGRAM, A SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM AND SIGNATURE EVENTS. THE UA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SERVES AS A GATEWAY TO THE UA BY CULTIVATING LIFELONG CONNECTIONS, STRENGTHENING COMMITMENT TO THE UA AND INSPIRING ADVOCACY, ENGAGEMENT AND GIVING. THE UAAA PAID MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH IS OVER 15,000 STRONG, IS A KEY COMPONENT TO GROWING A COMMITTED AND ENGAGED ALUMNI BASE. LAST YEAR, THE MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM EVOLVED FROM A BENEFITS-BASED PROGRAM TO A SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM. THE SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDED OUR COMMITTED ALUMNI AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE THEIR ENGAGEMENT, BUT NOW THEIR MEMBERSHIP IS CONSIDERED A GIFT TO THE UAAA. THESE GIFTS WOULD ALLOW OUR ALUMNI TO CONTINUE THEIR ENGAGEMENT WITH THE UAAA AND THE UNIVERSITY, WHICH WOULD ALLOW OUR ALUMNI TO BE RECOGNIZED ON ANOTHER LEVEL AS DONORS VERSUS SOLELY MEMBERS. THROUGH THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF OUR MEMBERSHIP BASE, THE UAAA IS ABLE TO SUSTAIN THE IMPACTFUL ALUMNI AND STUDENT PROGRAMMING OUTLINED BELOW. OUR CHAPTER AND CLUB NETWORK BUILDS A CONNECTION BETWEEN ALUMNI LOCALLY AND ACROSS THE U.S. BY STRENGTHENING THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE WILDCAT NATION AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA. THERE ARE OVER 30 CHAPTERS AND CLUBS THROUGHOUT THE NATION, POWERED BY OVER 400 DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS. THROUGH MEANINGFUL, IMPACTFUL AND DIVERSE EVENTS AS WELL AS COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP, CHAPTERS AND CLUBS ARE AN INVALUABLE RESOURCE AND ACTIVE STEWARDS OF THE WILDCAT FOR LIFE TRADITION. AS KEEPERS OF THE FLAME, OUR CHAPTERS AND CLUBS ACT AS CONNECTORS AND MOBILIZERS WHILE INFLUENCING ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT AND ACTION. THE UAAA'S CHAPTER AND CLUB NETWORK SUPPORT STUDENTS THROUGH ACEDEMIC SCHOLARSHIP AND AND WITH THE CHARITABLE SUPPORT OF DONORS, FRIENDS AND THE ARIZONA COMMUNITY. AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPACTFUL THINGS WE DO AT THE UA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE BOTH NEED-BASED AND MERIT BASED, ALLOWING US TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO COLLEGE FOR STUDENTS WHO OTHERWISE COULD NOT AFFORD IT, WHILE ALSO ALLOWING US TO BRING THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST MINDS TO THE UA. THESE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN A RETENTION PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGE CAREER, RESULTING IN RETENTION AND GRADUATION RATES THAT EXCEED THE RETENTION AND GRADUATION RATES OF THE OVERALL STUDENT POPULATION. THROUGH THE CAREER LAB, THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION HELPS WILDCATS FIND JOBS, ADVANCE THEIR CAREER AND BUILD THEIR NETWORKS. THE NEWEST ADDITION TO OUR CAREER LAB IS THE "WILDCAT MENTOR SOCIETY," WHICH IS IN ITS SECOND YEAR. THE WILDCAT MENTOR SOCIETY ASSIGNS AN ALUMNUS OR ALUMNA TO A SMALL COHORT OF STUDENTS WHO ARE IN THEIR JUNIOR OR SENIOR YEAR. THE ONE-TO-ONE, SMALL GROUP MENTORSHIP COHORTS ALLOWS STUDENTS TO RECEIVE REAL WORLD, EXPERT ADVICE FROM PROFESSIONAL ALUMNI AT THE PEAK OF THEIR OWN CAREERS. AS THIS PROGRAM CONTINUES, UAAA ASPIRES TO GROW THE NUMBER OF MENTORS AND MENTEES TO CREATE GREATER ALUMNI-TO-STUDENT CONNECTIONS AND IMPACT. THE CAREER LAB'S STRONG PROGRAM TO OFFER CAREER MANAGEMENT RESOURCES TO HELP ALUMNI REACH THEIR GOALS, INCLUDING JOB LISTINGS, IN- PERSON AND VIRTUAL NETWORK CONNECTIONS, CAREER WEBINARS AND RESUME AND COVER LETTER REVIEWS. IT ALSO PROVIDES ALUMNI WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE TO THEIR FELLOW ALUMNI. WITH 290,000 ARIZONA ALUMNI, EACH ALUMNUS OR ALUMNA HAS A POWERFUL NETWORK AT THEIR FINGERTIPS. THE ASSOCIATION'S ARIZONA ALUMNI MAGAZINE IS AN AWARD-WINNING PUBLICATION THAT IS AVAILABLE IN PRINT AND DIGITAL FORMATS. THE PUBLICATION IS THE ONLY PUBLICATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA THAT IS PROVIDED TO ALL 290,000 ALUMNI ONCE A YEAR, AND THREE TIMES A YEAR TO ALL PAID-ALUMNI MEMBERS AND DONORS. THE PUBLICATION PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF STORIES AND UPDATES ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY AND ALUMNI ACROSS THE WORLD, AND PROVIDES A UNIQUE WAY FOR ALUMNI TO STAY CONNECTED TO THEIR ALMA MATER. THE UAAA WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE UA AND UA FOUNDATION TO MAINTAIN THE ALUMNI DATABASE, RESULTING IN A VERY HIGH PERCENTAGE OF "CONTACTABLE" ALUMNI, AND ALLOWING US TO WIDELY DISTRIBUTE OUR PUBLICATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS TO OUR ALUMNI BASE. THE UA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ALSO HOSTS SIGNATURE EVENTS TO GIVE ALUMNI OPPORTUNITIES TO VISIT CAMPUS, TO LEARN ABOUT THE CURRENT EXTRAORDINARY ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE UA AND TO REMINISCE ABOUT THEIR COLLEGE DAYS. SPECIFICALLY, OUR HOMECOMING EVENTS DRAW TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VISITORS TO THE CAMPUS DURING THE FALL OF EACH ACADEMIC YEAR. HOMECOMING INCLUDES MANY EVENTS SUCH AS THE VIEWING OF THE LIGHTING OF "A" MOUNTAIN," THE 50-YEAR CLASS REUNION, THE ALUMNI OF THE YEAR AWARDS CEREMONY, THE TRADITIONAL BONFIRE AND PEP RALLY, AND TENTS ON THE MALL TAILGATING AND WILDCAT FOR LIFE TAILGATE PARTY. THE UA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TRAVEL PROGRAM PROVIDES ALUMNI WITH LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WHILE TRAVELING WITH FELLOW ALUMNI. OVER 35 DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRIPS ARE OFFERED ANNUALLY, WITH OVER 400 ALUMNI TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS UNIQUE WAY OF COMBINING TRAVEL, EDUCATION AND COMRADERY. THE UAAA IS FOCUSED ON CREATING LIFELONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR STUDENT POPULATION. RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING, UAAA WELCOMES STUDENTS INTO THE FOLD OF THE LARGER UA FAMILY. AND ONCE STUDENTS ARE SETTLED INTO UNIVERSITY LIFE, THERE ARE A RANGE OF UAAA PROGRAMS TO ENRICH THEIR STUDIES, BOOST THEIR FUN AND EXPAND THEIR PROSPECTS AFTER GRADUATION. THE UAAA SPONSORS TWO STUDENT HONORARY GROUPS WHOSE MISSION IS TO HELP PRESERVE UA HERITAGE AND TRADITIONS. STUDENT ALUMNI AMBASSADORS (SAA) HAS MORE THAN 500 MEMBERS, MAKING IT THE LARGEST STUDENT CLUB ON CAMPUS. STUDENT LEADERS CONNECT WITH ALUMNI WHO MENTOR AND PROVIDE ADVICE THROUGH VARIOUS NETWORKING AND CAREER-RELATED EVENTS. SAA ALSO HOSTS FUN ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THE ORIGINAL UA GHOST TOURS. SINCE 1922, BOBCATS SENIOR HONORARY, A SELECT GROUP OF 13 DEDICATED SENIORS, HAS SERVED AS KEEPERS OF UA TRADITION, FOSTERED UNITY AND UA SPIRIT AMONG STUDENTS, AND HELPED PREP, PLAN AND HOST HOMECOMING WEEKEND. FINALLY, THE LAUNCH OF THE BEAR DOWN NETWORK WAS A SIGNATURE ACCOMPLISHMENT AS PART OF THE UNIVERSITY'S NEW STRATEGIC PLAN. THE BEAR DOWN NETWORK LAUNCHED IN APRIL 2019, WITHIN THE FIRST 2 MONTHS OF ITS LAUNCH UAAA EXCEEDED ITS GOAL OF INDIVIDUAL SIGN-UP'S. THE BEAR DOWN NETWORK PROVIDES AN ONLINE COMMUNITY THAT ALLOWS ALUMNI, STUDENTS AND OTHERS TO CONNECT FROM ANYWHERE AROUND THE GLOBE. USERS HAVE ACCESS TO MENTORS, CLASSMATES, LOCAL AND REGIONAL EVENTS AND ONLINE RESOURCES THAT WILL CONTINUE TO CONNECT THEM TO THE UNIVERSITY AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL COLLEGES THROUGH THE GROUPS FUNCTIONALITY. PROFESSIONAL AND SOCIAL NETWORKS ARE EXPANDED WITHIN THE BEAR DOWN NETWORK, OFFERING A MEMBER DIRECTORY, MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES AND AN ALUMNI JOB BOARD. A MOBILE APP FOR IOS AND ANDROID ALLOWS MEMBERS TO ACCESS THE NETWORK ON THE GO. THE BEAR DOWN NETWORK IS A PRIORITY INVESTMENT FOR THE UAAA.
