AAS PREPARES STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS IN HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE BY STRENGTHENING ACADEMIC SKILLS & MINDSETS. ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS FACILITATED THREE EVENTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS BETWEEN OCTOBER 2022 AND SEPTEMBER 2023. AN ACADEMIC SUCCESS COURSE FOR STUDENTS IN ACADEMIC TROUBLE AT THE UNIVERSITY HAD 49 PARTICIPANTS; 39 OF THEM COMPLETED THE COURSE, WITH 35 EARNING A B OR HIGHER. THESE STUDENTS EARNED 2 COLLEGE CREDITS AND WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY. A STUDENT SUCCESS INSTITUTE FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN WAS HELD FOR 15 STUDENTS; 14 COMPLETED THE COURSE, 12 WITH A GRADE OF B OR HIGHER. THESE STUDENTS EARNED 1 COLLEGE CREDIT FOR THIS INSTITUTE. A STEM BOOTCAMP FOR INCOMING STEM STUDENTS WHO HAD NOT PLACED INTO CALCULUS THROUGH THE MATH PLACEMENT EXAM WAS HELD FOR 31 STUDENTS; 28 OF THEM EARNED 1 COLLEGE CREDIT AND PASSED THE COURSE WITH A C OR HIGHER, AND MANY STUDENTS PLACED INTO CALCULUS OR PRE-CALCULUS AT THE END OF THE BOOTCAMP. A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE WAS HELD FOR 20 FACULTY MEMBERS TO SHARE THE PRINCIPLES OF STUDENT SUCCESS AND HOW TO INCORPORATE THESE INTO THEIR CLASSROOMS.
ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS OFFERED ONLINE COURSES AND WORKSHOPS TO PROMOTE STUDENT SUCCESS. 2 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN WORKSHOPS AND 5 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN COURSES. ONE PARTICIPANT IN THE ACE YOUR NEXT TEST WORKSHOP SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE PHARMACY TECHNICIAN EXAM AND IS NOW A CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECH. ALL PARTICIPANTS IN OTHER COURSES ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THE FALL SEMESTER AT COLLEGE.
ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS PARTNERED WITH MONACO SOUTH OPTIMIST CLUB TO OFFER CRUSHING MATH AT A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL. 15 OPTIMISTS WERE TRAINED IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STUDENT SUCCESS TO PARTICIPATE AS TEAM COACHES DURING THE COURSE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SCHOOL WAS UNABLE TO RECRUIT STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COURSE.
